I guess my point in this was that expecting complete continuity in a fictional environment may not be the most realistic.

There have been several posts about a problem with a lack of continuity in the current releases by many of us old-timers.
But reading back over those early issues, I'm surprised at how little Marvel worried about continuity back then. They even reveled in it sometimes.(i.e. Stan putting blurbs on the pages acknowledging the continuity issues and awarding no-prizes to those who could sufficiently explain them. Brilliant getting the readers to clean up the small messes. Or the several times Marvel just printed one or two non-related issues in the midst of a storyline. So I guess it's like Billy Joel sings, "The good old days weren't always good"

I really liked almost the entire thing. Korvac's role as he saw himself is just,.. something. You get to see several literary classic themes here.
The Flawed Hero Star Crossed Lovers
and some major butt whuppin.
The only downside for me was Moondragon, I understand her use as a plot device, I just wish she didn't have to be so darn snooty all of the time.
This one gets a 9 1/2 Loonies out of 10 (1/2 point off because of MD)

I came into comics later than some. I have never read the Korvac stroy itself, only seen it referenced several times, in other stories.
I always knew it was supposed to be one of the biggies. I've just started on it and I really am liking it. This was the first time in the title that they really built and built gradually toward a main story line, using several issues of flashes to show it coming up. Knowing how big the story was this really built up my anticipation.
I'm still in the beginning of the actual Korvac issues and I will come back and rate it when finished. There are a few things of note though.
In light of current comic events with our opinions about government interference in the CW stuff it's interesting to note that it was happening here as well. I've always hated Gyrich, and here he is meddling with the Avengers and reallygumming up the works. At this time we were, as a country getting into the whole 'big brother is watching you' mentality and that is just what Marvel played off of. Sorta like they did with the forfeiture of freedoms in the CW.
Well, I'm gonna go back an finish this one off.

W O W
This one is a doozy.
OK The Avengers start off fighting the Lethal Legion and then end up fighting an incredibly augmented Count Nefaria. I've never read this one before.
WOW
Several times I've seen some of you reference him as one of the Avengers toughest foes and I would think 'What he's OK but not that tough'
WOW
Nefaria kicks major Avenger hindparts. This was one of the most fun fights I've read so far. Man alive. He took and took everything they had
Beating the Avengers soundly, whacking the Vision while he was intangible, going toe to toe with Thor and hardly flinching. This was good.
Then at the end rather than writing themselves into a corner and having to use a cheap ploy to get them out, the writers really came up with a suitable and exciting finish.
WOW
couple of other little things 1. Is that Gyrich skulking around Avengers HQ for the first time? Looks like it. 2. The Beast is not satisfied with his contributions to the team. 3. Iron Man's leadership is being called into question 4. A little foreshadowing into the Maximov family tree
Just a really good all around run
I have no choice, and for I believe the first time I give this outing
10 LOONIES OUT OF 10

It would've been a nine but I didn't like how he beat himself in the end. It felt sorta forced.
Thou shalt not question the loonies

This is the introduction to one of, I believe, the most underwritten bad guy in Marvel,... GRAVITON.
I have seen it touched on lightly in other threads but I want to say, this guy could have been one of the most powerful villians in Marvel.
I feel if he had the same continual writing/development as Magneto his power would be off the charts. In his premiere he was doing all kinds of ultra powerful stuff and he was just getting the hang of things.
Anyhow, we also see the tension Vision has towards the newly added Wonderbread. Vision is on hi "I'm an android, I can't feel" kick and it gets sorta tiresome.
Anyway, I always liked Graviton as a baddie and I give the issue of his imtroduction 7 Loonies out of 10

OK this was pretty good.
The Avengers enemies have hired The Assassin to eliminate them as a group. After 1 year of planning that is what the assassin attempts.
The action from this one is pretty good with the right amount of plot tension thrown in. I have never read or referenced this one before so I found it very enjoyable.
A little surprise at the ending. The only sorta cheesy event in the storyline is in how Hawkeye escapes his predicament at the end, but this is a comic book world so it can be forgiven.
Overall I give this set 7 Loonies out of 10

OK we see several things in this issue.
1st The Beast is already making great strides as a team member. that's good.
2nd: Iron Man and Thor squabbling for the attention of Moondragon,.. that's not so good
3rd: Wasp is still in her coma, this causes stress on poor ol' Henry
4th: Yellowjacket finally figures out who Whirlwind is (Y'know, he really has been a pain in the Avengers butt up til' now.)
5th: we are starting to see Yellowjackets self control slip-sliding away. He gets so mad in his fight with WW that he does quick and extreme height changes knowing how badly he is injuring himself.
All in all a good issue
Gonna give it 6 Loonies out of 10

OMG The wonderfully silly story of Mantis. I never read the issue with the wedding of the Scarlet Witch and Vision. I had no idea the rediculous Mantis storyline was piggybacked on top of it SHE MARRIES A TREE!!!!! It'd be better if she married a ninja. not even gonna work up a rating on this one.

Who was your favorite cornball bad-guy and why
for me there are several but one of the top cornballs is Batroc the Leaper. I mean he keeps thinking he's in Caps league. They even develop a relationship that is a little less antogonistic than most foes. I always liked him. I sum up his cornyness with the time in dissassembled when he takes a ball game hostage with a "bomb detonator" after Cap hand's him another defeat the detonator turns out to be a click pen which Batroc uses to ask for an autograph. All of his appearances are only just a little more serious than those hostess fruit pie ads. But he hangs in there. I think he'd make a good thunderbolt

OK this is the first stand-alone issue I-ve reviewed for a while.
This features the Avengers Iron Man Thor Hawkeye Vision Mantis
They travel to Vietnam to bury the recently deceased Swordsman. There they encounter the Titanic three; Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo and Radioactive Man.
The Titanic Three are the superhero police force of post-war vietnam. The Avengers are not able to confront them immediately due to political constraints. There is a brief Thor dominated skirmish with Iron Man over this but IM gets some sense knocked into him via a mystic uru hammer.
Later in Saigon there is another confrontation, spurred on by some petty criminal.
The thing that draws me to this issue is that I have always LOVED the dynamic between IM, Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man. The fight is pretty decent as well. The politiacl dialogue is a little tedious but it serves to remind what is going on at the time.
Overall a good read as a stand alone.

The marriage of Crystal and Quicksilver.
For me the marriage issues were always either bang or bust. I either really loved them or really hated them.
This on is OK.
It has the full complement of Avengers, Fantastic Four with a comatose Franklin in the care of Agatha Harkeness (Is this the first time she is in the same place as the Scarlet Witch, I think so)
All the Angst of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witches sibling spat over the Vision.
Then to make things fun it turns out that Maximus the Mad has fused Ultron's head with Omega's body. Creating a very powerful Ultron 7.
Ultron is able to use Omegas powers to slap everybody around, until he makes the mistake of going full psychic. This act wakes up a crany Franklin who promptly blows the head clean off of a short lived Ultron.
Then there is a little more angst for everyone, followed by a wedding.
It would be a pretty blah crossove kids but remember, when things get dull, just add Ultron. He'll brighten up your day.
This outing gets 7 Loonies out of 10

It's cool to have these comics on DVD because I'm able to share the old school comic stylings with my kids. My daughter really likes the Avengers. So she gets to pick it up from the start. and it's something that we can follow along together.

I have a blood condition (unfortunately not a joke) when I get home from work I'm usually very tired. So I read comics while talking to my loverly wife (who against all odds is NOT my cousin) and then sharing what I liked, or dislike with my new friends on here who share a common interest.
So I really appreciate all you guys.

Yee Ha
This was one very fun read. A crossove event that was truly enjoyable.
Featured
Avengers Captain America Iron Man Thor Black Panther Vision Scarlet Witch Swordsman Mantis
Defenders Dr Strange Silver Surfer Hulk Namor Valkyrie Hawkeye
each team believes that the other is in the grips of an evil plot
They are at first pitted against each other contest of champions style, split into teams each vying for a piece of the evil eye. Then they realize their true foes
Dormommu and Loki
Of course they join forces and save the world.
Lots of good fights, many teists and turns and an appearance by Peeping Tom,.. I mean The Watcher.
This is a really fun little series to read. I won't spoil this review with too many details.
Gotta give this outing 9 Loonies out of 10

Bored, read it again towards the end. It comes right out and says that the Vision was able to control the guy by only materializing his brain over the other guys. Hand to God, I almost plotzed. and you know what the guy said when he came out of it?
he said "Oy"

Well, this proves that things don't just happen in todays books that make our jaws drop in disbelief. This issue shows Magneto MIND CONTROLLING both the X-men WITH XAVIER and most of the Avengers. Explanation, controlling the iron in their blood to limit flow to the brain giving him limited control of their minds. Wha?!?!?!? Controlling XAVIERS mind? Not to be outdone the Vision then mind controls by overlapping someones brain and materializing just his brain Wha?!?!?!? I'm very glad they didn't do this too often. Giving these two great characters this power was just a little silly. This issue gets a paltry 1/2 Loony out of 10
