In Avengers 310 the Avengers travel to the negative zone to find Olympia, the home of the eternals.
We see Asgard here as well.
How did Asgard wind up in the Negative Zone? and how can it not be under constant attack by Annihilus while there?

Not an issue to read if you want any action at all.
There are 2 reasons I decided to review this issue.
1- Captain Marvel assumes chairmanship of the Avengers. The wasp placed herself on reserve status after the Masters of Evil storyline. So Captain Marvel spends the entire issue contemplating her decision. I've really grown to like and respect this character more than I used to. I look forward to re-reading her issues of leadership.
2. Dr. Druids first full issue as an Avenger. This guy makes Mantis look like a good idea. No matter who writes this guy he still comes off as an a$$. Cant stand him, can't stand him, can't stand him.
overall this issue is just to mark Captain Marvel's advancement and I can only give it 3 Loonies out of 10

She did the same thing to Reed in the CW. Are you implying what I think you're implying, Nutcase...? guilty

he engages Sue in a pool game, in which Sue uses her force fields so that Cap can't score... She did the same thing to Reed in the CW.

[Are you refering to the story where it comes down to Cap and Hawkeye facing the Collector, and Hawkeye basically says "if you can figure out which hand I am holding my arrow in behind my back, you win?" ? Yeah, that was a great example of who Hawkeye is, as well as the difference between Hawk and Cap. No, Tana. That was Avengers annual 16. It was the Grandmaster vs. Death using the Avengers vs. dead Avengers/foes. But your main point is true, it is classic Hawkeye. I love the end of that issue when the two teams go back to their baseball game and cap tells a teammate to watch Hawk because he cheats.

What, being torn in half is mistreatment? Yeah DLW, gee whiz,... you've gotta remember that for Doom knocking someone through a wall is just saying"Pardon me, but I would like to have a quick conversation with you" so being torn in half was really Jen just trying to help the Vision make sure he had no more Ultrons polluting his system. See she was just trying to help.

With my apologies to Tana for the immature boyishness of this thread. Who has been your favorite lady in this book? We've touched on this in many other threads, so I thought I'd consolidate it. Mine would have to be Mantis,... I am kidding. I have to go She-Hulk. Must be all that green.

I didn't even know this story existed.
The Avengers Wasp Cap Captain Marvel Black Knight Hercules and his first complete issue as an Avenger Namor
find a mysterious cocoon in the ocean after a plane crash. They think, at first its, another version of Him or Her. The cocoon fights them off with a force so great that it eventually overcomes even Hercules.
Captain Marvel finds out the cocoon has nothing to do with the crash and rushes back to the site.
Mean while Wasp (she was a really great leader for the team) Wasp figures out they need to stop fighting it. The entire time they'd been hearing a voice, so she tries to talk to it. After establishing that the Avengers are there to help the cocoon lets them remove it from th ocean and take it to Avengers mansion. They have to step away and when they do the opaque cocoon goes transparent for just a moment to reveal
Jean Grey. I din't know the advent of X-Factor started in Avengers
There is alos a quick shot of the developing Scourge story that entered into the Cap books.
This was a good story for me because of the surprise knowing it was out there.

This is a good run for me because it brings in one of my favorite groups, The Eternals.
Starfox and the Wasp crash a party in New York. The party as it turns out is hosted by Sersi. She gets called to return to Olympia but she won't go. The other Eternals send a squad to fetch her home and Starfox and Wasp are taken along in the fray.
Meanwhile back at baase Vision is still laying the work for his takeover that we know is coming up.
When we go back to Olympia we find out whats going on and Starfox and the Eternals both learn things from each other about their combined heritage. Then the Eternals do the Uni-mind thing.
Enter Mealstrom and Deathurge. They want the power of the Eternals and the Avengers fight against them. After everything is concluded most of the Eternals head off into space and a handful remain on earth. The Avengers and Sersi head back to NY
high-points for me First time seeing the Eternals in this series Premiere of Sersi, who I like More shots of Captain Marvel as a butt kicker. Development of Starfox's character. I never much liked him before, but now that I have access to these older issues I find I'm liking him as a fighter, tho' I'm not too crazy about his manipulative power.
overall I give this run 7 Loonies out of 10

This is a pretty good fight.
The main reason I bring this book in is because it really showcases on of the newer Avengers talents.
I never realized exactly how powerful and how much of a contribution Captain Marvel made to this team. She really becomes a core member that the other members look to for her contributions.
In this issue Arnim Zola fights the Avengers using the help of several Hulk clones. He is trying to take tech from one of Banners labs, and the Avengers want to prevent it, with the aid of Mr Fantastic and She-Hulk, now with the FF.
Decent battles and actually well written. This Annual arrives in the midst of the run where the Vision takes over, so it makes for a good action break, before getting back into the main story.
This gets 6 Loonies out of 10

Continuity was definitely something we took for granted back in that era. Just like we expect to wake up each next day and find out it's tomorrow.

In this issue, though, you see his face in high shadow. It really looks like a horribly difigured huminoid face, not at all insectile as we'd expect.
I think I'll write this off as one of those little inconsistancies that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Actually Dr B. It makes more sense, in the case, for the current Marvel version of events to be correct. Hm being a bug-guy as depicted in Annihilation seems more sensible than him wearing a bug mask.

In Annihilation it was his face. I always thought it was his face. Like you said bug-guy. But in this issue it's an armor mask. So I'm not sure now.

I have a question. I thought Annihilus' face was hi actual face. In this issue, however, it shows him with his' helmet' off and it sitting on a table. He just has a horrible face.
But in the Annihilation series it is definately his face
Help in understanding please.

CLose, that one is just a little earlier in the run, two or three issues before. This is right after Hanks trial is resolved.

I want to review this one because it shows there don't have to be a lot of fights to make a good mag.
This wraps up Henry's time in jail.
This is an emotionally charged issue. Hank shows that he finally understands what being a hero is about.
It's about doing the right thing in hard situations It's about making things right It's about taking responsibility for your mistakes, even when others try to give excuses It's about enabling people to move on with their lives.
I won't say anymore. You should read this. I never had much respect for Pym as a character. That has changed.
It's a good read

I guess tho' it actually shows that they are currently being true to the character. Appearantly one of Pyms traits is an innate trust in the system,

Well, the counter to my statement can be made using the same book. Even though he was wrongly improsoned, and none of his friends would even listen to his story. Hank always steadfastly held on to trusting the justice system. So thinking about it, that does make sense in him being on the side of lawfulness.

In the issues in the 220's Hanks in jail on a setup from Egghead. While he's in there, he finds out Whirlwind is gonna go after Jan. He finds out his best friend is also gonna go after Jan
He knows what it's like to be wrongfully imprisoned and the pain it causes.
All this said, I wonder why he was on IM's side. Once you've been in prison, especially wrongfully, you're not in a hero to put others there. At least Hank never struck me as that kind of guy.

I really liked those appearances of the Mechano-marauder. How about when all the lady super-heroes were getting together for a luncheon, and tehy ended up taking out the Mechano-marauder? Wasp, Sue Richards, She-Hulk, ... I forget who else was there. That was a good scene too. Something interesting ended up happening to him ... didn't he join the Avengers staff eventually? This was Avengers 221 The Avengers were doind a recruiting drive and Jan had a few gal pals in for tea. They very calmly, one at a time took him down while discussing buisiness. Wasp Invisible Girl (at the time) Dazzler Black Widow Spider-Woman She Hulk This is also the first meeting of She-Hulk and Hawkeye, they started out on the wrong foot. It's actually a pretty good issue as well.

Yes Cap brought him in in his series. He's a techie for the team.
The funny thing about this initial fight was that IM was fighting him right in front of the mansion. As the other Avengers came in they would say 'Hi' to IM ask if he needed any assistance in an offhand kind of way. "Hey Iron Man, you got this under control?"
Just funny.

just finished this one and I like it enough to do a quick review.
highlights, the Funny appearance of Fabian.
Wasp comes back to the team and gets herself elected chairman. A run which lasted for a while. I liked her as Chairperson.
Yellowjacket gets completely hoodwinked by egghead
I won't ruin this with any further details but the issue merits 8 Loonies out of 10
