This guy has an ego like I just can't believe.
How could,...
Do you think he really believes the things that come out of his mouth, or is it just publicity generation?
What the?

The love affair in comics that I found the most difficult was me and Wonder Woman. I just never could figure out how to get that relationship to work out.

I have no idea how that happened. I make some spelling errors but that looked like I was channeling the spirit of some ancient babylonian.

I just started reading this and I have a question.
What is it?
It looks frighteningly like it is taking place at about the same time as the horrendous final issues of Vol 1.
Could somebody explain this series to me please?

Oh, is that all? An "I did it" thread posted by Nutcase -- I was ready to read about anything. Congratulations to you, and a gold star exalt for gettin it done. Now summarize the plot of this epic in 30 words or less. I can do it in one 'NO'

I know this isn't really old enough to as a classic in age, but I want to review it as one.
This issue takes place at the end of the Kang story, which is a great story, even if it did get a little spread out.
This issue deals with victory and the price you pay.
We get to see Warbird, once again in front of an Avengers hearing. This time however we see aWarbird taking responsibility for her actions and trying to stay out in front of trouble. This is much better than her last appearance here.
This is the first time I've actually liked Triathalon. Reuniting the two others with their friend from the past was a nice touch.
This story does not ignore the enomorous loss of life that always comes with war. I like that they don't skirt that issue. We should always be aware of the price.
I was surprised to learn of the death of Duane. It makes sense that he was in Washington but I was still surprised.
I loved Thor throwing a surprise banquet. He had been really mopey about the nature of his relationship with humans but Firebird let him have it. He came back around and was the Thor we all love.
The final scene where Cap, Wasp and Iron Man pay their respects at the memorial was nice. I liked that they were able to pay respects to an individual rather than a group with no face for them.
This was a very touching issue and I can give it no less than 10 Loonies out of 10

I'm in the middle of reading the Kang story.
This issue brought a couple of things up.
Carol surprised the Hades out of me (and Master of the World) by teaching him the rules during wartime.
But here's a question. Where's Doom during all of this? Wouldn't Doom have something to say about Kang's declaration of war against the Earth?
Just asking.

I'm gonna pick Loki. He's the reason we have them and his animosity towards his brother has attached itself to them as well. He might not be in there as often as Ultron or Kang, but I vote for him.

It's like D-Man and Amesiac Namor could make a super-team.
I love the scene in Avengers where all the Avengers are sitting in that auditorium and no-one is sitting anywhere around Dman.
Poor Dennis

Also, I've heard a couple of people giving Vance a hard time. Let me ask you a question. Let's say it was real life and you have always always always wanted to be an Avenger. You finally get a chance, and you're young. Wouldn't you be tempted to act like he does?
I would probably be so excited all the time it wouldn't be funny. Then you guys would be saying "boy I really hated when they had nutcase on the team, he was a useless Avenger."

Sorry DLW gotta disagree about firestar. If they made an Avenger team of all redheads,... you wouldn't have to worry about storylines for me.

that's issue 4 but it's just as good.
I love Vance jumping up in the back of the group like a crazy man. Also all tha Avengers getting antsy because Cap won't "say it"
This is fun fun fun fun Avengers reading. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I seriously had to take a 3 day break from reading after going though all that last crap. I picked back up apprehensively and man I'm so happy

FINALLY!
after all the crap to get back to some real Avengers story telling.
I don't car if absolutely nobody else liked this story
I LOVED IT!!!!
It had more of an Avengers feel than anything in a long time. I really think the way the Avengers felt waking up from the spell they were under was meant to be an analogy for how we felt about the absolute garbage we had foisted on us prior.
Halleluah! Amen

I wonder how many of Marvel's defenders on here read through the entire volume 1 just to see what happened at the end.
I wonder if it would make a difference to the apologists.

Now I understand something a little better than I did before.
I always wondered why all the older guys like myself are so disgusted with things as they are right now. You guys didn't seem to like a lot of the new stuff and I like some of it. I couldn't see what the difference was.
Now I know. When you read the Avengers atraigh through, like I've been doing (just about finished with reborn) you see what happened.
The last part of the series ie disgusting, it felt like getting flushed down a toilet. Every time I went to the next issue, here's a character who wasn't there before, and a character who was there is now gone. Huh. So for the people who've been in it for a long time, another change comes up thee is bound to be a level of apprehension and skepticism.
I am still noy believing what they did to Avengers there.

I' actually 5 issues into heroes reborn. I'll tell you what. If this was the first time I had ever picked up comic books, I don't think the stories would be all that bad for me. I'm trying to read them from a mindset of reading a different title. All in all they're not terrible, but after what happened in the last 16 issues of Avengers I still have this awful taste in my mouth.

it doesn't get any better afterwards either.
Did someone just stop caring that one story needs to pick up where the other leaves off? I've never read this stuff before but nothing is making any sense.
Maybe I've been playing crazy for so long it's finally starting to take hold.
I've been trying to not be so negative but this stuff at the end of volume 1 is crap.
I'm about to get into the Onslaught issues. I hope they make sense.

During Onslaught the Dark Beast sent some reprogrammed sentinels out and the Avengers faced them. I don't know if this is the only time, but it is an instance.
Also the Senitinels for O.N.E are produced by Stark.

This is the issue several have quoted in disliking the assignment of Ares as an Avenger. Citing the childrens hospital affair. I have a question. When Ares took over the body of Thowhy was he still able to wield Mjolnir? In the Onslaught series once Onslaught sought to kill Hulk using Thor's mind he couldn't lift it. When Ares used it to wonk Herc out by hitting him from behind, doesn't he become unworthy, thus activating the enhancement?

This a series featuring the Avengers and the New Warriors. I was a big fan of the Warriors originally. In this story they fight the Sons of the Serpent feuled by the Hate Monger.
The story also feeds off of racial tension and mistrust of authority. It mainly addresses peoples capacity to succumb to letting hate take over their reactions and the need to let go of hate in order to find a true solution.
Some points from this one.
Cap treating kid heroes like little kids (mind me now or it's off to bed with you) Rage's age coming out The Hate Monger showing how evil (should be on that other thread) he really is.
overall a likeable story and it rates 6 Loonies out of 10
