OK I see what you are asking. I don't hope the story fails. I hope the story helps to take care of some of the problems past things have created for me.
I'm looking toward stories that show failures in the Initiative.
Before anyone flames me, think about it. If all they tell is stories about the initiatives unbridled success, things may be just a tad boring.

Does that mean Frank Cho will draw the all female team that operates out of KANsas? <slinking away now> that's just stinky man. So wasp and yellowjacket would then go to MINNIsota?

And I guess we can expect Klaw and Dazzler to form the core of the team in IlliNOIS. Dont forget that songbird will leave the Tbolts to join the team in Illinois. IlliNOIS,... man that's just bad ;D So does that mean Blade would lead the team in ConnectiCUT?

I would think failure would be easy to describe.
For me a failure would be if villians are able to utilize weaknesses in the fifty states set-up to further their own goals in an obvious manner. Or if this results in conflicts between state groups. Or if things devolve into a police state.
Any of these things could constitute failure.

And, how do the FF fit into the initiative...? Since, like the Avengers, they are based in NYC, I could see some government bureaucrat reasigning them to South Cakalaki... As part of the privileged upper class of superhumans, I assume they get special treatment and will stay put in NYC. Meanwhile, some poor schmuck like Captain Ultra will probably wind up helping Nutcase keep the peace in South Cakalaki. They'll be stationed in a crumbling Motel 6, with a food per diem of $10 a day, forced to subsist on Sonic hamburgers, and make use of Rick Jones old Teen Brigade radio equipment. you know, I may be setting a dangerous precedent by exalting people when they make fun of me,... but some of these jokes are too daggum funny. Exalt for you. The sad thing is, in my little spot of a town we only have one motel,... and it is a 6

If you give any team to puerto rico, then American Samoa's gonna want a team, then the US virgin Islands it just won't ever end.

As funny as it is Uber, it's wrong. He wouldn't beat me, he'd steal a strand of my wife's hair from our shower drain and clone her and have her blast a hole through me using her enchanted curling iron. C'mon man, think Marvel. But he would only sic Clife on you if the traditional helloing you through the nearest wall failed! Of course Balok, he has to stick with protocol. It would be insulting not too. Clife,..heh heh. As scary as that sounds, not as scary as the real thing. (of course shes asleep right now so she can't hear me typing jokes about her. Talk about getting smited.

Boy I'm glad you slammed me through that wall, I thought you might be mad at me. Second another point made by my comparison is that to accuse Marvel of copying DC when Marvel already ran that idea is sorta silly. Especially since you can keep going back to both groups and say, well they did then we did it, The main point is this,... I hate ninjas

as much as I hate to point this out. I'm agreeing with Doom on most of this. I'm also surprised that Doom hasn't used Marvels more similar storyline "Acts of Vengeance" as a comparison. That is probably a truer comparison to the DC deal than Civil War.
but still,... play nice

I think you also have the potential for interstate conflicts, which could be interesting.
i.e. Villians commit crime in Oklahoma. Villians then cross into Texas where the Oklahoma team follows and catches them (in the heat of the chase forgetting to inform the Rangers(Texas' superhero squad) that they are in pursuit. The Rangers come across the Okies squad attacking folks on Texas soil. Hilarity ensues before both teams join forces and give the bad guys a good whuppin.

I like the thought about redemption of Tony Stark. I hope it works out. Even more I hope it produces a more complete end to the Civil War.

Well Rhode Island could have Big Bertha and the Blob(if he hadn't lost his powers) That would pretty much 'cover' the state
Massachusets should have an all paranormal team, based out of Salem.
Michigan would have super based in Detroit with mechanically based powers.
North Dakota should have people with heat based powers asn Arizona should have cold-based powers
That's all I can think of.

here's my thing. You know Texas will have a texas themed team.
So this is what scares me,.. what kind of team would South Carolina have? Exactly how many redneck superheroes do we have available to us?
US Agent doesn't count. he's in Canada

according to the official read lis we are in the third month of World War Hulk.
I just got finished reading the releases for 7-18
I am really liking this,.. almost all of it.
Hulk does need to be stopped, for his own good. But it is good to see some of the needed butt-whippins going on. Here's a couople of high points from today for me
Possible spoilers but notihing big
Ghost rider - Riding away after his human counterpart is KO'ed. Why? because he only avenges the innocent.
WWH - Black Panther pointing out to Richards that this is everyones fight because the entire world was pulled in because of the choice of a few
Frontline - Daredevil pointing out that the registration has become a tool of convenience. They revoke it when the heroes are needed
Initiative - Hardball's effect on the battle
X-men - This is one of the better non-ending fights I've seen in a long time. It causes me a little problem with comtinuity, but not so bad that I don't genuinely enjoy the blow by blow.
Overall todays releases receive
8 loonies out of 10

Even though Thor wants nothing to do with Tony, I am surprised they didn't bring him in. Although I think the timeline is skewed with Tony appearing in Thor for his butt-whipping. Thor might be a little behind WWH. But if Thor is or was present, he has a long-standing power rivalry with the Hulk and a disposition towards protecting humanity. I think it would be a good match to watch The current Hulk vs. the no holds barred Thor

no no no
Look at the characters in question
When the illuminati shot their good friend into the cosmos they were operating under 'ends justify the means' It's ok to shoot our good friend into space because he may probably hurt someone in the future. That's ends justify the means'
Hulk does not operate that way. He has always been up front about the way he does things. You tick him off and "HULK SMASH!!!!!!!" He doesn't try to justify his questionable actions or excuse them with words. He smashes.
You shoot him into space he smashes you hit him with a missile he smashes you send Abomination after him he smashes you get his hamburger order wrong he smashes
no hiding behind pretty logic. So yes the illuminati are still the ones guilty of 'ends justify the means' now they get to see that sometimes those ends aren't what they want.
hmmmmm seems like Tony 'the futurist' should've seen this coming and Hulk being such a large force should've shown up in Reeds 'Asimov math' oh well. I'm sure they'll ertcon that at some point.

What I want is for Hulk to SMASH!!!!
Unfortunately, Marvel will probably stick with the whole 'ends justify the means' schtick and have the Illuminati whip out their new forces:
Ninja Zombie pro reg Cap Mutant Inhuman Beyonder Cross Dressing Galactus and the Irredeemable Ant-Man as the new Watcher.
They'll take Hulk down

When he got mad and turned into :
RAMPAGING BRUCE BANNER!
that was great.

I know the American pres has a low approval rate and barely won his way in, so I don't hold all American's accountable for their countries actions, ) The president actually won re-election by a tidy enough sum, it was the 2000 election where he scammed his way in had a contraversial election. The mind boggles as to why exactly they vote him in by more AFTER he caused the Iraqi international war crime/disaster/illegal invasion/current state of civil war but I digress.... Is my leftism showing a little here? What you are stating here is not solely a leftist opinion either. MANY conservatives share some or most of this view as well.

Doom, where I agree that usually such nationalism doesn't play well on a board as multi-national as this one, I think the term "un-america" applies to the situation he's describing because he's talking about American political policy.
I don't think he was trying to say we have a corner on morality. I would never make that claim.
