These girls, obviously, could see through my middle-aged exterior and view the inner beauty that is there in abundance.

Everybody's talking about it. I was just in a deli and two girls were talking about the movie! Of course i butted into the conversation, majestically holding court!

Bongsy--that doesn't bother me, since Thor is technically a prince. But what does sort of bug me is how the Black Panther is always called Prince T'Challa, when he stopped being that in 1965. Oh well--who cares.

I work with enough hipsters that I completely ignore their online bleating. I want the movie to be good--if it is not good, it'll be bad for Avengers fans all the way around in terms of making more super hero movies.

Agreed, HB. I don't think people are as dumb as Loeb obviously thinks we are.

I know whatcha mean, Drew. I have yet to hear one person dog EMH. It is dying a slow death by lack of publicity. Sad.

Thanks! I do what I can!
Re: one shot stories. I am currently obsessed with the series Mad men--and the main reason I even noticed that show was because I would flip through channels at night, and any time I'd light on Mad Men, I'd get engrossed. It didn't matter if I knew what had come before--it just grabbed me because the writing, art direction and performances were so strong. In fact, those couple of episodes I saw led me to go buy the complete seasons on DVD. I think EMH has the same quality standard--you can enjoy a single episode regardless, and if anything that makes you want to see more episodes. I agree that people's attention spans are increasingly short, but great writing can overcome that.

I didn't see this episode but from the sounds of things it may be that the creative fire is out. An EMH with hardly any Avengers in it and grade z villains is not what got me interested in this series in the first place.
By the way I am slowly but surely getting my friends to watch EMH on Youtube, and every single one loves it. I went back and watched the Ultron episodes--man, he is really scary.

Hi Ultron--I have missed several episodes before and never felt lost or confused. The show is so well written and exciting that you can pick up anytime

Yes, Drew, we are all too stupid for own good. We must be hand fed by the brilliant and talented Mr. Loeb.
This reeks of an industry hack's ego running amok.

Thanks, Drew--maybe if those videos on Youtube get up there in view counts, someone will take notice--but I think it is too late.
Loeb is a jackass. You have no idea how many projects I've personally seen destroyed by arrogant hacks like Loeb. One day I just might start a blog and tell some stories about the video game industry. People from the outside wouldn't believe what goes on.

Oh for God's sake. What the hell is going on at Marvel? The first time we've EVER had a Marvel cartoon that virtually every single fan loves, and they kill it. Am I surprised? NO. We were already told that the EMH creative team had "already moved on"--and trust me, as a guy employed in a similar field, that means Marvel/Disney is either unhappy with the creative team, or they are killing the show.
Last season's EMH episodes are now on Youtube, and the guy posting them is asking viewers to hit "like" if they didn't even know this cartoon existed until they found it on Youtube. Let's just say he is well liked. AND the clips of the show nobody knows exists are averaging between 50-80,000 views, which is very high considering the clips have only been up for a few days.

True--but that whole scene where Tony Stark, Hank Pym, Beast and Black Panther were examining Wonder Man in the lab was great characterization. Nobody listened to the Beast--which fed into his inferiority complex.
And in regards to under-utilization, one thing I noticed in reading this volume was that for the most part, most battles were won by the efforts of the Vision, Thor or Iron Man. Occasionally the Scarlet Witch was a deciding factor. The Beast, BP, Wasp, CA, Yellowjacket and even Wonder Man almost never "saved the day." I guess when you have such vastly differing power levels, it's kind of hard to let the lesser powered guys shine. That's why I like EMH so much, all the characters hold their own

I thought the Beast was dynamite in the Avengers! Remember when he tried to pick up the Absorbing Man's ball and chain, but couldn't, saying "This will make a great trophy for....huff..huff..somebody else."

Drew--I don't think the Beast is under-rated. I think Avengers die-hards look at him (judging from what I read on other forums) as being one of the high points in Avengers history, especially his friendship with Simon Williams. He brought more fun to the book than anyone ever has! Remember when Whirlwind tried to dislodge the Beast by spinning, but failed, and the Beast said something like "That was fun, whirly! Not as fun as Magic Mountain, mind you, but still fun."

You're welcome, Drew! I re-read these stories for the first time since they came out and was STUNNED at how great the characterization was during those years! No wonder so many die hard Avengers fans came on board during Shooter's run. The Beast was really funny and charming!
Back to EMH. I liked it, but honestly wanted to see some new villains. Part of what I loved about last season was how they crammed so many different villains like the Serpents into each episode. It was exciting seeing these characters "come to life" for the first time on TV--and the Avengers have a rich enough roster of villains to pick and choose from. I would have rather seen Nefaria or Galactus or somebody like that rather than the masters of Evil again. I would wager that the budget for this show was cut since it didn't set the world on fire last season, and the creators used the same villains so they could re-use the animations from then.
Also--what is the deal with all the commercials? there were times when it seemed like there was 15 minutes of EMH for every 30 minutes of commercials. I swear to GOD I can sing that "We are Happy, Happy CAMPERS, and we love to play with you" song by heart! It started to creep me out like I was Michael Jackson or something.
I am not feeling Spiderman at all.

Off topic--but FYI the new Essential Avengers just came out! If you are a Perez or Byrne fan from back in the day, this is a must-have.
I wonder if I will remember to watch EMH tomorrow.

Speaking of Iron Man's many suits of armor--do you all like how he changes all the time? I think I liked it better when he'd stick with one suit for an extended period of time--just personal preference. It makes sense that he'd have a variety, though.

All I can add is that this series ROCKS!!! Any minor criticisms are just that! MINOR! I have come face to face with an incurable illness for the first time in my life, and I am so happy to see my childhood heroes given respect. I love this.

I know. Not a lot of Panther fans out there. It certainly shows that he's never really had a classic storyline, nor has he been a big factor in the Avengers. Maybe this series will change things, although the super-smart characters are rarely popular--compared to the dumber characters like Hulk or Wolverine.
I hope we get to see a lot more Doom. The way he shot down the Wasp (verbally) was perfect. Very direct, very arrogant, and nasty. By the way who was the female robot that Black Panther shoved his hand through? I didn't recognize her. She seemed to be a step above the generic doombots.

Hi Shir--I liked it too but agree that it seemed like they were cramming a ton of material into one episode. Not to nit-pick though--overall it was great. I'd much rather have a ton of stuff in one story than a boring story with nothing in it.
Drew--how Reed was presented was not at all how I "see" him in my mind--you know he was pretty much a jerk as you said. I did love how Tony Stark acted, though, regarding Sue. That was spot on in my mind. I think the Stark character has really, really improved in recent years, due to the movies mostly and EMH. He is a very distinctive character now. So far he and Hawkeye and the Hulk seem very distinctive, with BP and CA pretty close.
Shir--I love what they are doing with the Panther. I just didn't want to play favorites since he is mine!

It was really the Frightful Three. I came into the episode halfway through, but even though the Trapster was talked about for a minute, he was nowhere to be seen for the portion of the show I caught.
I'm really surprised nobody's talking about this new EMH episode. What do you guys think?

I don't really want to spoil anybody's attitude about USM, Drew. I really don't--and I was never a huge Spiderman fan anyway. But I will say that most of the people on this forum (and others) loved EMH because the creators stayed very close to the original concepts of the characters involved. Yes there were minor alterations and changes, but Hawkeye was still very much Hawkeye, Thor was Thor etc. AND there were tons of battles. In USM, Aunt May bears zero resemblance to the original character. She is lower middle-aged, almost attractive, is sort of a socialite--I mean good lord. I was kind of liking the show until then and it was like when you suddenly stop playing a vinyl LP and the needle goes SCCCCRRRATCH and then stops cold. That's how I felt. Then they brought in a team for SM to join, consisting of a teenaged Luke Cage, a teen-aged Iron Fist, White Tiger and Nova. Not one of those characters showed any real, defined personality. SM himself is pretty true to the original character--but that's about it.
You know, SM seems geared much more towards kiddies, which is fine, but it was a little jarring considering how well EMH catered to kids and old schoolers.
