Doesn't matter what title Doesn't matter what company Please don't dump on other peoples favorites or tell them why they shouldn't be. Or thou shalt be smited
Here's my top 5 1. Silver Surfer I have always loved SS, he was the first comic I ever had 2. The Tick I have always loved SS, he was the first comic I ever had The Tick should be self explanitory if you've ever read it (Get on board here Shiryu) 3. Captain America He just always stood for standing up. I'm all about that.
4. Iron Man (please bring back my Iron Man) Tony and I share similar weaknesses. He also has a never say die attitude. I know that same attitude feeds hi whole ends justify the needs things. but oh well. 5. The Flash Funny and Fast. I just love him

I have a question, though, Nuttie: I've never read the comic book; I've only seen every so often the show, so the question is this: do you feel the Thick can be CONSIDERED a hero..? I mean, I laughed very hard with his adventures, but I'm not sure I would call him a hero, although he certainly seems to think he's one... The only person who seems to actually behave in a heroic way on that show, seems to me, is the American Maid...

I really do stick to Marvel, not just because I like them best but because my addiction cost enough without branching out. If I start on other companies, one thing will lead to another and my comic book dealer will get all my money. That said, here's my top 5:
1. Spider-man- I don't think there's ever been a comic book character that was more fully developed, even though there have been a few out of character lapses.
2. Wasp- I guess, based on my name, these first two aren't much of a surprise. I think the reason I like Jan so much is that she is the underdog, based on sheer power level, but through character growth has risen far above her diminutive stature.
3. Human Torch- Basically, I've always thought Johnny was just plain cool (Pun intended)
4. She-Hulk- Okay, it's the lamest name in the world, but the sense of humor more than makes up for it. She's one mean green fun machine.
5. Thing- Nobody captures the glory of being a hero and the curse at the same time like Aunt Petunia's favorite nephew.
I guess, looking at my list of favorites, it's no wonder I'm not so crazy about many of the dark turns Marvel has taken in recent years. I love the fun folks. Honorable mentions (Hell-cat, Quicksilver, Multiple Man, Dazzler, Strong Guy, Beast, Northstar)

1. Iron Man Is an alcoholic. And now he's the biggest villain in the MU.
2. Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) Was dead for a long time, and then his resurrection sucked.
3. Ms. Marvel Is an alcoholic, and wasn't Ms. Marvel for a long time.
4. Nexus Hasn't been published for a long time.
5. Moon Knight Was basically dead AND not published for a long time.
But at least all five seem to be around again, for the first time in ages.
After these five, there are about three dozen all tied for #6.

Though baloons. His intentions are heroic. His deeds turn out heroic. He has heroic powers He fights enemies who are definitely bad-guys. His main quest is for justice. SO for me he's a hero,...also an idiot.

1) Captain America - He represented everything that was good when I was a kid and I have never lost my love for this character
2) Iron Man - He has always represented the new, the flashy, the exciting. He comes up with new toys and gadgets. And though I am not a gadgety newest shinniest thing kind of person, I can experience vicariously through him.
3) Hawkeye - Took the lemons life handed him and made lemonade. Turned himself into a true hero without loosing his cynical, wisecracking nature. A great foil for Cap to keep him from getting too far off the deep end.
4) Thor - What's not to love about a Norse God speaking the Queen's english while alternating between smiting Gods and Giants and whompin' on super villains.
5) Vision - One of the coolest origins/introductory stories, awesome powers, and I loved the way he brooded about his emotions. He hit a lot of the same nerves in me that Spock from Star Trek hit.
Honorable Mention: Green Lantern and Flash - I loved these characters as a kid: great costumes, cool powers, and awesome super villains. I just can't get into DC since I started reading comics again, it's just too confusing.

1. Captain America- Because he's Captain America dammit! 2. Spider-Man- Used to be my favourite but civil war changed that. Still, the wall crawling hero's wisecracks bring him to second place 3. Barry Allen. 'Nuff said. 4. Thor- I don't know if it's the hero side, the space bit or the fantasy aspect but I LOVE this character 5. Iron Man- Never cared about him prior to Civil War, can't get enough of him now.
Honourable Mentions to Mr Fantastic and the Ever Lovin' Blue-eyed Thing

Today I realized I have to make an ammendment to my list: I left out one of my favorites, consequently, I'm dropping Hawkeye from the 5th position; my list, as ammended: 1) Iron Man: I know it sounds stupid, but even as a kid I loved facial hair; I remember if I'd be watching a contest on tv & one of the contestants had a beard or a moustache I'd always root for him... perhaps, at the beginning, this was reason enough to like Tony Stark; he looked a little bit different than most clean-shaved heroes... 2) Spider-Man: I alwways liked the mystic of the masked hero with a secret identity; it was one of my most cherished conventions in the genre, and both Spider-Man & Iron Man had the type of masks which one could believe might actually hide their identities from people who knew them, unlike, say, Green Lantern, Robin or even Hawkeye or Cap... But sigh! Mike Grell took care of IM's secret ID & CW ended the glorius run of Spidey's double life... 3)Adam Warlock: I can believe I forgot about him; one of my favorite Marvel characters... Not so much as he was originally conceived, although even then I think he was different & interesting, but especially once he was resurrected prior to the Infinity Gauntlet & his portrayal through the original Infinity trilogy & the ongoing Infinity Watch. 4) The Hulk: the one character I didn't mind when his double life was exposed; it seemed a natural, quite logical progression. I love all his incarnations: dumb, smart, grey... For me, Peter David, at least while handling him, Rocks...!!! (But even so... why, oh why kill Betty, Peter... !!!) 5) The Thing: the ultimate lovable everyday-man with a heart of gold & limitless courage...

... But if we would be talking 5 favorite characters who are NOT (or at least whom I don't consider to be) heroes, then my list would be as follows: 1) Doctor Doom: because he's Doom!!! 'Nuff said...!!! 2) Howard the Duck: he lives in Cleveland & is Gerber's best creation... Need I say more...? 3) Thanos of Titan: in my view, easily one of the most complex villians of the main comic book companies; for me, only Doom & the Joker surpass him as villianous creations... Yes, Darkseid would PROBABLY win a fight, but Thanos is the more interesting character of the two... 4) The Mandarin: especially as written by Byrne, but always interesting for me because of the Rings of Power; in my opinion, in spite of his quite abundant appearances through the years, still a character who's not lived up to his potential, except, as I said before, during Byrne's stint as IM's writer. 5) Man-Thing: as you can tell, I'm a sucker for Gerber... Loved his whacky adventures... The one character who can undoubtely make Ben Grimm reflect that perhaps his life's not so bad after all...

1. Silver Surfer -- volume III -- because with great powers, come some weird situations 2. Daredevil -- he's just morbidly heroric without a lot of power to make his decisions easy. I was reading a back issue the other day when he was fighting crime with a cast on his leg, carryin a crutch around. Then he ended up giving his crutch to a homeless person whose leg had been bitten off by a crocodile. That's just the kind of hero he is. Never stops. If there's a hero who I would predict will end up dying in the line of duty, it would be him. 3. Quicksilver -- he just gets himself so worked up sometimes, tries too hard to support his ideals, can beboth fiercely loyal and fickle in his inclinations 4. Wolverine -- because I remember when he was gloriously under-exposed 5. She-Hulk -- I like her attitude. For having such typical powers, her personality always makes for a fun book.
That was more difficult than I thought it would be. If I'd read more of their solo books, I have a feeling I'd like Thor and Dr. Strange more than I do.

Ok, got to join in.
1) Captain America - when I was a little kid, he was one of my heroes, and has been my favorite super hero, my whole life. 2) Hawkeye - What can I say, I love the charter that is a normal guy, yet fights besides gods. Also I love the bow. 3) Black Knight - Love medival stuff, and have like Dane since he joined the Avengers team on a more permant bases all those years back. 4) Thor - Back to the myth and legend stuff. And who is more myth and legend then the God of Thunder himself. 5) Flash - Prefer Wally, but also loved Barry, and don't mind Bart. (Jay is just there for me, although I like him in JSA).

1) Cap- he just personified everything I wanted in a hero. nuff said.
2) Thor- early Stan Lee/Kirby issues were some of the biggest blockbusters possible. They're just grand, big books with great design.
3) Namor- I just identify with the guy. He's of mixed heritage, angry and proud and can't get along with Doctor Doom ;D
4) Hawkeye- there are certain characters you only like when certain writers are writing them. I haved loved hawkeye when almost anyone writes him. He's just that much fun.
5) Ultra Boy- For a long time the LSH battled it out neck and neck with the Avengers as my fave super team. Then DC retconned the Legion a half dozen times and eventually wore down my affection for the team to almost nothing. But every once in a while that red and green costume will get my attention and remind me of the good old days. Not too surprised that his costume has remained pretty much the most unaltered through all the relaunches--it is top notch...

Now it is I who should ask: who is Snake Plissken... Snake Plissken is the anithero protagonist of John Carpenter’s films Escape from New York and Escape from L.A., played by Kurt Russell. The character happens to be a comic-book character, too, having appeared in a miniseries called Snake Plissken Chronicles.
