I missed this week's show--did anyone watch it? Witchcraftial's channel on Youtube hasn't been updated.

I read his name but can't remember it. Don something? I didn't recognize him as a Marvel writer, although he might be.
You know what else I really liked? How Kang's invasion of Wakanda just basically disappeared--and the writer didn't explain it! I thought that was a nice, mysterious touch. It was like Kang didn't even know what happened!
I also enjoyed Kang's creepy promise that things were just beginning!
Shir--the thought of the Elders of the Universe appearing soon is making my comic nerd-gene tingle with excitement!

Yeah I did notice the Ultron thang.
I have never seen those Kang thugs before--maybe they are a new creation for the TV show--but I agree the whole thing was fun to watch! Kind of scary too. As others have noted earlier--I think Kang comes off way more formidable and scary "live" than in comics.

I liked it! I especially love how they always give us a little glimpse of a new character--last week, the Black Knight, this week a "certain stretchy scientist." It makes you not want to look away for even a minute! I learned this the hard way--I looked down at one of my dogs this episode, and suddenly heard Kang say "Wakandans!" I missed it! And last week, if you blinked you might have missed the Black Knight!
This writer is crafty!

Hi HB!
I think, when it comes to the Panther, that it's more like he's talking like a standard, old-school noble native--you know, full of cliches about tribal elders and all that. I like the accent, but what he actually says is, when he does speak, is pretty cliched. I like him better when he's quiet and sneaking around.
I liked the scene where Thor congratulates the Hulk on being a brave warrior. Most of Thor's other dialogue just falls a little flat for me. I would also submit that Thor is not coming across to me as being as powerful as the Hulk--not by a long shot.

Kid--you need to set priorities. Quit school immediately and watch every episode of this series.

What's weird to me is how different these characters appear to me now that I see them "live" and hear them talk. I'm finding Thor kind of boring, personality-wise, the Panther too. I guess the other characters are so lively and funny, particularly Hawkeye, the Hulk and Wasp, that the more noble characters just don't really come off as well to me. That sort of surprised me--since Thor and the Panther are two of my favorite Marvel characters.

I think I can explain the hair. long hair is really hard and time-consuming to animate. Since the Wasp is so prominent in every episode, they probably wanted to keep her animation time down--as opposed to say Mockingbird who isn't around much. And even MB's hair is sort of a blob, which is easier to animate that more realistic locks. I'm guessing that that is the reason, anyway. Jan's always has short hair--so they probably just decided to give her that anime look.

I didn't want to be negative since this cartoon is so good, but since others brought it up, I agree that Hawkeye and Cap's ability to leap or land hundreds of feet without injury is bad. There are a million ways to write a character but making everyone equal will only dull their appeal. I didn't like Mockingbird's telescoping pole, either. Her fighting skills in that one episode were so impressive that she didn't, IMO, need over-the-top anything.

I love how the Panther hits his top speed on all fours--the whole cat aspect of his character in comics has been missing for years! I also loved how, when he first meets the avengers, he's posed like a stalking cat on the Avengers' mansion fence! Well done! The whole catlike thing is what grabbed me in the first place. Love the stealth bits too--and the acrobatics! His whole fighting tecnique should be very acrobatic and different from Captain America, who is less agile and more of a traditional fighter.
OMIGOD-the Black Knight appears! If you blinked, you'd miss it--but he was definitely there!
This cartoon is single-handedly erasing my cynicism over Marvel in the past few years!

You're probably right, Shir. I never saw that X-Men cartoon--was it any good?
I really would love to see the Scarlet Witch on the Avengers team. Pietro too--but I think Wanda's abilities would be flashier and cool.

You're so right, Badger. I see little things all the time that point to comic scenes of yesteryear. Is Stan Lee involved in this? That would certainly explain it. Stan Lee loves his characters and it shows.

Yeah I wanted to see more Black Panther (there's a shocker) but seeing that he had his Man Ape episodes which were all about him, and the fact that he has been doing a lot up until now, it's a minor complaint.

Spoiler Alert: I just watched the first of the Kang episodes! Another winner! You know, after seeing my favorite Marvel characters animated for the first time)I am realizing a few things that never occurred to me from just reading comics. One, GOOD LORD what a broad spectrum of great characters, including the villains, Marvel has. I guess having gotten so used to them over the years, I wasn't seeing the woods for the trees! Seeing them all animated is like seeing them for the first time. Second, it never dawned on me how scary some of these villains (and some of the heroes) would be if they existed in real life. I found Kang to really scary for some reason--I think it's a combination of the blue Mask, along with his effortless ability to trounce the Avengers that was really impressive. I also find Giant Man's sheer size to be really, really scary, especially when he just sort of rises out of nowhere. Antman may not knock your socks off, but when Giant Man basically punts the Abomination through a building, you have to admit that Pym is a power to be respected on the team.
I hope they make the Panther and Thor less stuffy in the future. Kids hate stuffy super-heroes.
One mo' thang--am I the only one who thinks Hawkeye and (surprisingly) the Hulk, have the most personality on the team? I like all the Avengers, but it seems like when Hawkeye and the Hulk are in a scene, their personalities just really click for some reason. The two of them watching and laughing at the sparring between Cap and Tony Stark was priceless.
Funniest line in today's episode: Hank Pym reveals the army of Ultrons in the Negative Zone prison--and they just pan into Jan's face, which doesn't move for a second, and finally she just says, worriedly, "That's a lot of Ultrons!" Hee hee!

I saw that title, Starry, and I just groaned. I mean, best at what? Cutting people into shreds? I can't, off the top of my head, think of anything else that Wolverine does that is better than what a dozen other characters can do.
Have you all seen the Super hero Squad cartoon? The FF comes off really good in that. Their powers seem to really come off better "live"--particularly Reed's.

I always found the Human Torch kind of boring, so I wouldn't care much--especially since they'll bring him back in a couple of months anyway. And I was just thinking that the current 15,000 Spiderman books/appearances/group affiliations isn't enough. Plus we need more Wolverine and Cowbell.
Hey have you all noticed how many books the Black Widow is suddenly in? Lucky for me, I love the character but I hope they don't ruin her by over-exposing her.

Well a big problem is that kids don't read comics anymore. I almost never see kids in the comic store. I ask kids all the time if they read comics and they invariably say no. I work with a woman named Janet who wrote some issues of Batgirl in (I think) the 90's and I told her about the Avengers cartoon--and we just started talking about the business side of comics. She told me that in the 90's, a book selling 200,000 copies would be up for cancellation. Today, selling 60,000 is considered a success. That is pretty scary. (These numbers may be off a bit--the conversation took place a long time ago--but the point was that sales have been declining sharply for years). I think many factors contribute to this decline--not the least of which is the fact that there are literally hundreds, if not 1000's of titles out there. In the 70's the choices were basically Marvel or DC, each publishing just a couple of dozen titles, but now your head could explode just looking at rack after rack of comic titles.
Uhhhh what was my point again? Oh yeah--since kids aren't buying comics, the only way they will be exposed to these Marvel characters will be through cartoons and movies.
AND ONE MORE HUGE POINT ABOUT THE AVENGERS CARTOON and then I'll shut up: These animated super heroes have NOBILITY. That has been missing from comics for so long it seems.

I voted for the original spooky version, especially when rendered by Palmer/JohnB. I liked that you never really knew what he was thinking. Like most of the rest of you, I also liked watching him move towards being a "real boy." Loved the whole Mantis thing too, but then again I love bad girls. I just can't help it.

We are gloriously informed Marvel fans of the highest imaginable quality, not dorks. By the way, went to Austin Books today and asked the guys behind the counter if they'd seen this cartoon, and only one out of the four even knew it was on! This is bad!!! I am really afraid it will be canceled due to complete lack of promotion.

SPOILER:
I'm glad I wasn't the only one with misgivings about the end of the show. The second I saw the "surprise" at the end, I have to admit my stomach got a little queasy. I loved that little bit where Madame Hydra opens the pin on the grenade with her mouth as if relishing it--what a great touch! And then...the "surprise." UGH. I know Shir is eternally optimistic, but I saw that and got a bad feeling about it. We shall see.
Maybe after my worst fears about the new "Man Without Fear" comic came true, I'm feeling a bit cynical.

Did you all see the latest Avengers episode? It was great!
Spoiler alert!
Guess who appears? Mockingbird! I was always pretty ambivalent towards that character, but this series made me a fan! Whoever is writing this series knows our favorite comic team backwards and forwards! And don't give up on the Black Widow either!
Wow! The series is now on Sundays here in Austin, at 9 am

I am so mad. Against my better judgement I just purchased the new Man Without Fear, which/who is now the Black Panther, not Daredevil. Well guess what? THEY HAVE DE-POWERED HIM. Now T'Challa, whose powers were upped at the end of the other Black Panther series--is now completely powerless. His costume is all pockets and straps like some Rob Liefield 90's nightmare.
So once again, they've made T'Challa WEAKER, and now Marvel will sit around wondering why nobody likes him. He's back to fighting street criminals--wow--really exciting stuff.
If I didn't know better I'd say Marvel is intent on destroying this character.
