I think those issues were pre-John Buscema, weren't they?

Not surprisingly,I'm with you, HB. I didn't hate Starfox, I just didn't think he added anything to the team. A character has to be pretty bland for me not to feel one way or another on him.
I also agree that adding new characters to EMH should be done slowly, for maximum effect. We are getting Ms. Marvel this next season--which I'm sure will delight a lot of Avengers fans. I would love to see the She Hulk come on board--but with the hulk around I'm not so sure she wouldn't come off as a pale imitation of him. Don't get me wrong--She Hulk is one of my all-time favorites, I just think two Hulks on the team at the same time would be diminishing to both of them.
Drew--if you find yourself with some extra cash, snap up all the Stern issues of Avengers from the 80's after John Buscema came back on-board. It seems like everyone knows and loves their "Under Siege" storyline, and rightfully so, but the entire run is amazingly good. I am still hoping Marvel will release a trade paperback of the Assault on Asgard series.

Hee hee--you summed that encounter up, pretty well HB! I think it was Hercules who was showing Namor his room, and Namor decided it was going be his room! But I'm not completely sure! Either way, it was hilarious! And remember when Hercules got annoyed with Namor sulking around because he was thrown out of Atlantis? Hercules called him "Prince No-More" and "Son of a Sea Slug!" Hee hee! Those were the good old days! IMO that era did more in terms of giving the Avengers distinctive personalities than all the rest combined!

Namor is a jerk--always has been! But to me, he usually adds a degree of unpredictability to stories that is often awesome. Remember when he and Hercules got into that B-fight over who got the nicest bedroom in Avengers mansion? Hee hee! When two divas collide!
To me it's the same sort of thing with Hank Pym on EMH. I can't stand that whiny, naive personality--BUT if not for him being who he is, we wouldn't have Ultron. Or a lot of the interesting personal interactions. I think Mantis was almost universally hated in the mainstream Avengers comic, but because of her, some of the best interactions ever occurred.

Shir--I think he was saying something like "even the guy with the shield and no powers put up a better fight than you"--something like that. But I think I also heard "bow" too in there somewhere. I could be wrong. Why are Abominations so inarticulate these days? Hee hee!

Guys--I have a question. In the episode where the Wasp fights, and almost beats, the Abomination by dropping boulders from a cave on him--He grabs her and says how useless she is, and says something about how someone else gave him a better fight than she did. I have played that clip several times and I can still not tell what the Abomination says. Can anyone understand that speech?

hmmmmm--No mention of the Wasp, nor is she on the cover of the DVD. I wonder why? I hope they don't ditch her--she was really endearing, especially in the Asgard episodes

SW--the last time I went to the comic store was three weeks ago. I saw those various melodramatic FF covers dealing with the death of the Human Torch and just rolled my eyes. I really hate how Marvel tries to manipulate people into buying comics rather than just writing great stories. Man the FF has arguably the greatest cast of villains (go back and take a look at issue 100) in comics, as well as some of the greatest supporting cast (The Watcher, Inhumans, Namor, Black Panther, etc. ) ever! IMO,Byrne, way back when, got this, and mined the FF's treasure chest of supporting characters. After he left, it seemed the stories got weaker and more boring.

Only two things scare me, HB. Nuclear War, and Bendis' grubby little sausage-links ruining this animated series.

"Stupid Invasion" LOLLLLLL!!! That gave me a good chuckle!
I know these creators are amazing so I shouldn't be scared--they haven't let us down yet--but I just can't help it. EMH, despite having literally hundreds of guest stars, villains and minor players, always presents the Avengers as a coherent unit and it is so freakin' refreshing. I mean it has been YEARS of Marvel flailing around, reconing recons upon retcons, characters changing identities, people dieing and coming back, blah blah blah.

Just watched 25. I'm done. I just can't take any more. Ulik. Volstagg. Sif. Valkyries. The Hulk more impressive than ever. The Black Panther saving Hawkeye, and Hawkeye being completely ungrateful.
I can only take so much!! My brain is about to explode!!! I feel like this series is single-handedly reminding me why I fell in love with comics as a kid, and the Avengers in particular.
I just about died when I saw Volstagg,

Hi Tom. I'm with you-- I haven't bought a single comic since this show came on. After watching these episodes, it only reinforces how dull and poorly written most comics are today. I mean seriously. If anything Bendis-related slithers its way into this show, I will stop watching. man I don't even want to think about that...don't jinx us!!!!!

I didn't know who it was either--but didn't someone say it was Chemistro, or something like that? It wasn't any version of the Trapster that I've ever seen.

I like Hank and Jan better as a team than solo. The take on Jan on EMH seems much closer to her character in the 60's, personality-wise. I like it. She's sweet and funny and I loved that she was afraid of the Abomination.
I think it's kind of sweet that the Hulk does anything she says, too.

Well, whether it was the suit or his senses, it was great to see him be the guy to "see" the invisible Iron Man. I loved the acrobatics too. Yost promised to make the Panther formidable and he certainly has kept his word.
The Wasp has always been one of my favorite Avengers--even when she was useless in the 60's.

Good lord, Shir--I noticed every single one of those things--and got all tingly when the synthezoid comment was made. Could this, along with Hank going into the body of Ultron, be setting us up for one of our favorite Avengers coming on board? My guess is YES!
You know what else is weird--just yesterday I was thinking I was hoping they'd let the Wasp do something really cool like growing huge, and I was also wondering if they'd ever show the Panther's enhanced senses being an asset in a fight. Sure enough--both things occurred! This show just gets better and better and better.
I loved the serpent squad too. And that's another thing. I was fretting that maybe too many super dangerous menaces like Kang or that Frost Elf guy might get mind-numbing after a while, and boom! The Serpent Society! It was a nice break to see the Avengers fighting lesser villains--creepy as they were!

HB--You fell into my trap! Hee hee! This is what has me so psyched about this series! The stories are so respectful of Marvel history, yet not slaves to it! They take the foundation and build on it without compromising anything! Every time I think there is ample space to derail, they never do! I have never, in all my years, felt so excited about an animated Marvel series (not that that is anything big considering what's gone before)--and I am noticing that comic fans across all the boards are ranting and raving! No nasty nit-picking, no whining that this character or that one isn't getting enough face-time--everybody loves it!
We have to make sure this thang endures!!! Despite the crappy promotion and ever changing timeslots, this is the animated series all Avengers fans have been waiting for!!
And yes, HB, your beloved Hulk is a breakout star on the show. I'm noticing that the Wasp, Hulk and Black Panther are the characters that are getting attention!
