Who's your favorite obscure or minor villain of the past? I was thinking about this the other day... anyone remember Ruby Tuesday and know what ever happened to her? I can't even remember what comic I saw her in.

....If they have a Cape, I love them regardless of how good they were. I don't know why, I just LOVE the cape! The cape makes someone average into someone AWESOME!

I used to own the only appearance (hopefully) of the Living Eraser, in an old Tales to Astonish!
I love the Porcupine, particularly in the Avengers issue where Jan and Nighthawk have to fight him at some fashion show.
Was Ruby Tuesday one of the Headmen in Defenders???

Was Ruby Tuesday one of the Headmen in Defenders??? Yes. Her "head" was made out of some kind of memory plastic; she basically had "Green Lantern Head" but far less powerful. The others were Chondu the Mystic, Arthur Nagan, and the Shrunken Head guy (I think his first name was Jerry). That's all I can remember without the wikipedia.

It was that story that really made me question what the Defenders book was all about (this was Steve Gerber authoring, was it not? Lord, I hated Howard the Duck...). Just prior to this we had a very nice Guardians of the Galaxy/Badoon story, then it segued into the Headmen. For what it was worth, it was funny -- but just not a story that could be taken seriously at all.

Thing is that's what I am liking about the Heroes for Hire book right now.
It's a comic that isn't being serious about their story
Right now it's them against the Headmen and a demented Doombot. It's silly, and after the CW I need some silly.
The Eraser,... that's a good one.

What about obscure heroes? We've certainly seen a load of those in civil war and Thunderbolts!

Heh, I remember the Living Eraser. There was an issue of Captain America where he fought a guy named Joe. Horrible green and orange outfit but it was a really good story. As for obscure Avengers villains how about the Mechano-Marauder.

I always liked that 'Scourge of the Underworld' run in Captain America where all those obscure baddies got whacked.

Well dlw, I know you read a lot of the Twomorrows publications, and I recall in one of them (Comci Book Artist maybe?), Englehart and Starlin basically said that they and their peers were partaking of a lot of chemical substances at the time....I think it really explains a lot of the stuff we saw back in the 70's. Some of it was fantastic; some of it, just left you going "WTF???"

I can't even remember what comic I saw her in. Don't wanna come off as king of the nerds, but it's Ruby THURSDAY. The Stones sang about Ruby Tuesday... Here's a good history of our bubble headed babe. www.marvunapp.com/Appendix4/rubythursdayhm.htm

Thanks for the link. I’ve previously posted about another resource for Hostess ads that also includes non-superhero-genre characters like Archie, Casper, and Bugs Bunny. One of the strangest developments of the Hostess-supervillain phenomenon is Kurt Busiek’s revival of Icemaster (whom the Human Torch had defeated with the help of Hostess Fruit Pies) as a Thunderbolts villain!

Sweet Christmas, that's one ugly mutha!! The sad thing is, I actually bought that book when it came out...Poor Luke, like a lot of B listers, he had his share of lame-o villains. Anybody remember another Cage villain, Chemistro?

My personal favourite Luke Cage villain is Black Mariah. A fat black chic that takes no crap! I don´t know if she was supposed to be a parody of those blaxploitation femme fatales or just a bad idea, but man, those guys at Marvel were trippin´in the 70´s...

I don't know how obscure you'd find this ine since he is more recent, but Cap and Nomad vs. the Slug. that is one gross guy, especially when they describe the fact that his chair has built in plumbing.
