Joe Casey is my new hero. Man, blackknight, you are right about how great it would be if he were writing the Avengers full time.
Isn't Newsarama fickle? They cater to Bendis, then they cater to Casey, who seems to be the anti-Bendis.
And the art of EMH2 looks to be so much better than the first series!! I will be on board for this, for sure.

They are not fickle, they are just trying to be pleasent to everyone. But if you read the article you could tell that casey although very diplimatic, does not care for what bendis is doing on the Avengers. Many writers don't. I have read interviews with Busik, Johns and Peter David all showing misgivings about the direction that bendis took the avengers. Finally, yes Joe Casey should be the guy writing Avengers, not bendis.

Yes, they're a newsite, but the tone that often comes across in these articles is so butt-kissing fanboy, no matter who the interviewee is. An op-ed following the article would be nice, expressing that the previous statements were a) the greatest thing since sliced bread, or b) a pile of hog manure. But then, I guess that's what we're here for .

It's pretty obvious in the interview and in the coming content of EMHII that Casey's work will be a repudiation of everything New Avengers "stands" for. I plan to buy a duplicate set of this series and give it to some long-time fan as a gift. It'll make a great gift and it will help to lift the sales of this book and perhaps make Marvel take notice that this is what we want.

Btw, if you like Joe, read his book Godland from Image, great comic! It's all Kirby old school stuff, the book's amazing, one of the best out there. There's two TPB's out already.

Very nice interview, I like this guy already. Especially when he says "I cant see "Avengers" and "Disassembled" in the same sentence" )

I wouldn’t say it’s all Kirby old-school—clearly its retropop idiom springs from Kirby, but the characterizations are frequently quite modern. My favorite: villain Basil Cronus, who seeks to sap the essence of superpowered beings for no other reason than that it’s the ultimate high!
