My question is really, as of January 1, 2006, where are all of the various avengers in the marvel universe (616)? Who is off planet, Who is out of the Super hero Biz, Who is in another dimension, Who is dead.... presently, and what would be the story threads if various ex-avengers were in the same room together.

As far as I know, Cap and Iron Man are in the new Avengers, Wanda and Quicksilver are powerless, Thor, Vision, AntMan II and Hawkeye are dead, while all the others should be somewhere on Earth (or may be in space in the case of Quasar and Moondragon). However, I'm not terribly up to date, especially with regards to limited series or mini series, so there may be some changes.

dellrusk (or is that really... Doctor Doom? The Mad Thinker? or... the Red Skull? Yeah, that's the ticket!), There is absolutely no way I am going to give the status of every Avenger as of 1/1/06, and I doubt very much than anyone else will, either. However, name any characters (a moderate number, please) from the full, chronological Avengers roster (http://www.avengersassemble.us/fullroster.html) and I'll reply within 24 hours with their current status. I keep tabs on these things, you know. - Adrian

I'd like to use this thread to ask about the status of Justice and Firestar. I just finished reading House of M, and I'm anxious to know if they still retain their mutant powers. I really grew to love Vance and Angel, and I'd hate to think that they might be out of heroing...

I'm new here, always have been an Avengers fan from at least age 7 or 8. Anyway, I'm curious about the whereabouts of Swordsman II and Magalene (I think I spelled her name correctly)?

Assembler - Justice and Firestar do still have their powers. It was revealed in "Decimation: House of M - The Day After" and also in "X-Men: The 198 Files" (handbook).
The two of them will also have a story in the MARCH entry to Marvel's 2006 romance one-shots... they may be getting married. (Read the solicitation. Go on, I dare ya!) Written by Nicieza, too.

myg65, in the 1998 Avengers/Squadron Supreme Annual, Iron Man built a device that used the power of Magdelene's weapon to open portals between dimensions. Swordsman II and Magdelene left through one such portal, as they felt that they were alien to the Earth-616 actuality.
Before that, though, they were offered membership by Cap.
And I believe - although I can't look it up right now - that they were among the Avengers shown during the Queen's Vengeance storyline in (Vol.3 #1-4).

Yes, they were in those 4 issues, and at the end of the story arc declined membership because they were uneasy around the Earth616 Avengers (due to the experiences in their own reality). It's the same reason they use in the Annual.
