Written by JIM SHOOTER, DAVID MICHELINIE & BILL MANTLO Penciled by GEORGE PÉREZ, SAL BUSCEMA, DAVID WENZEL & TOM MORGAN Covers by JOHN ROMITA JR. & GEORGE PEREZ He hails from an unimaginable era: the 31st century. Fleeing through the timestream from the pursuing team of futuristic defenders known as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korvac the Machine Man has established a secret presence on present-day Earth in the self-created persona of the mysterious Michael. Through such an unassuming guise, Korvac contemplates the elements of a universe he thirsts to command. Yet despite the subtlety of Michael’s machinations, the world’s greatest super-team -- the mighty Avengers -- catches wind of his cosmos-conquering scheme, thus drawing the two titanic forces into inevitable conflict. Collecting AVENGERS (1963) #167-168 & #170-177. i.newsarama.com/marvelnew/Nov09/avekorvac_phc.jpgi.newsarama.com/marvelnew/Nov09/avekorvac_dmonly.jpgvaraint edition

YEEESSSSS!!
I'll bet Bendis doesn't even take his comp. copy, because you know, this story doesn't hold up...
I wish they'd have chosen the Perez cover with YJ, Herc, and the Widow being "collected" for the direct market cover, though.

Thanks for posting this, goldenfist. I don't have all the individual issues here so I've been looking for the Korvac tpb for a long time, but it seems to be out of print or something--so I'll definitely buy this book!

This is cool. I've mentioned it before, but even though price guides don't reflect it, the Korvac Saga is popular and therefore somewhat hard to find. When I was putting together my collection, a good friend of mine was also trying to put together a run of Avengers and the one issue neither of us could find was #177. It took me well over a year to track down #177 when I already had the rest of the storyline (and basically every other issue from 140-up). Now that was frustrating, waiting to find out what happened at the end.

Are the original Guardians of the Galaxy in the story. Yes, goldenfist, the Korvac saga does indeed include the original (to me, only) Guardians. You can check out the covers here on www.coverbrowser.com. As you posted above, the series runs from Avengers #167-177, with the exception of #169 which was a fill-in. Also obviously, this arc includes the second half of the Bride of Ultron storyline. www.coverbrowser.com/covers/avengers/4EDIT: I'd remarked that #170 was a fill-in, when it is clearly part of the Bride of Ultron storyline.

But last year I had luck and buyed the issue on EBay-Germany in a bad condition (fair) in an auction for 2,77 Euro (round about 4 $). That time I was in anger, that I buyed an issue in such fair condition for such a price. But now, I know that this comic is great demand and I´m glad to have it!
