Which of these guys did the better job of filling the shoes of the heroes they replaced?

I was very tempted to go with Jim Rhodes but ultimately I think Scott Lang really managed to make the Ant-Man persona his.

Yeah, I had to go with Scott Lang as well. For me it wasn't close but Jim Rhodes would be my second choice. It is probably easier for me to accept Scott Lang as Ant-Man because I am more used to seeing Hank Pym as Yellowjacket or Giant-Man.

I agree with Scott Lang as the choice, and I also agree with Squidboy's reasoning. The others seem like userpers to me, but since Hank Pym has so many other identities, it's easy for Scott to become THE Ant-Man.

Yep, add me to the Scott Lang list. Completely embraced the identity and made it his own. Even got his own cool arch-nemesis (sort of) in the Taskmaster.
Wait- is Scott dead, too? Isn't that why Cassie's in the Mighty Av's now?
Hey-- does SHE count as a potential back-up now?

I don't much like any of these (except for those mentioned by Dlw of course ;D)
To be fair, substitute of very popular characters is possibly the worse role there is. No matter what, most fans will want the original back. I don't follow Green Lantern or Flash, but it's a testament to the writers' skills that they managed to keep Kyle and Wally Wast as GL and Flash for so many years. As we recently discussed elsewhere, DC seems a bit better at handling replacement, I read the latest Batman issue with Dick Grayson as the new Bat and it wasn't bad (temporarily at least).
But I disgress. Of these ones, I go for Scott Lang, perhaps because Pym has so many identities that I don't mind if one of them goes away.
