I don't know.... Apparently there is a market for such things. Talk about a cheap way (really cheap) to make a buck. I guess there is a "pervert contingent" in the comics-buying public. We talk all the time about characters being written poorly, the writer who doesn't understand the backstory or personality of a particular character -- well this is exhibit A from the marketing department of all people. Discuss if you want.

I can honestly say that in 42 years I have never once sexually fantasized about a comic character. Not even Poundcakes. Sorry but it just seems sad to me that anyone would fantasize about a fictional character--but hey, whatever blows your skirt up is what I always say.
I am so dying to say something on this subject but I am sworn to secrecy.

Wow...that's just so...repulsive.
I think the most disturbing thing is how childlike her face looks. I just see that and 'pervert' instantly springs to mind.

It's just so creepy. On several levels. This is, like, a statue or something, right?
How is this even Sue? I mean, even as oversexed as Jessica Alba is (no fault of her own, actually), she comes across as vastly more legitimate and true to the character than something like this.
What's the "shushing" gesture all about??
Tana, you're right, of course, about the disturbingly child-like face. . . but I think Marvel has long been guilty of that kind of hyper-sexualization of adolescent girls. It's part of what really turned me off about a lot of the younger-team X books in the 80's & 90's. Particularly the Rob Liefeld runs. I've always felt like, if there's a low-road that can be taken to earn a few dollars the easy way, Marvel can be counted on to take it. (A BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD comic, for Pete's sake-??)

I guess I was the only one thinking: "Jeeze, she looks overweight!"

I guess I was the only one thinking: "Jeeze, she looks overweight!" *ducks* I'm with ya on that, actually. There's just something about the face, breasts, and pose that make her look a little chubbier than normal. But really, Invisible Woman is not really what I consider a major sex symbol in the Marvel Universe. That being said, I do find her attractive when she looks . . . uh, well, normal. And she's probably my favorite female Marvel character.

I was reading some early Kirby/Sinnott FF for our blog yesterday -- yeah, they didn't draw Sue like above...
