Looking at the art featured on the 'Favorite Thor Covers" thread got me started on thinking about my favorite looks for the Avengers. Thor, for example: his original costume (always loved the boots!) is still clearly my favorite, especially as depicted by Perez in vol. III. Once he shaved, that is. I prefer my Thor shaved and my Hercules bearded. But I really like the way he drew his beltbuckle, still looking like a winged "T" (or pehaps stylized hammer) but at the same time looking like an eagle. Also, how he depicted the 4 superior circles of his costume as small metal "shields", as opposed to being just made of the same fabric of his costume, as many artists have done. My least favorite look for Thor, on the other hand, would be his Deodato period, when he went about shirtless and without a helmet and Mjolnir inexplicably gained a long chain at the bottom of its handle.

Great thread, Bong!! I would echo your sentiments about Thor and about Hercules. Specifically in regard to Herc, I liked the leather strap across his chest and the strapped boots. I don't like, never did like, any Hawkeye outfit except the classic purple and dark blue one. Jan, shoot -- she looks good in just about anything! Favorite Hank suit -- the blue/yellow Goliath costume. Vision -- original Wanda -- the outfit she wore after the Kooky Quartet era, but before she was outfitted in her gypsy attire by Perez. Plain boots, not the little shoes with the rings up her shins. Quicksilver -- silver's OK, but without the white collar.

i agree with dlw66, that's the best look for Hercules. I never liked the green strap across the chest look from the mid 80's, it was the same look as Clint's Goliath costume.
I like Moondragon in her classic green costume.
Beast HAS to be blue and furry(and not a cat!), Perez drew him best.
i kinda liked Iron Fist in yellow and red, but yellow/green is the best Luke Cage needed an update for sure, but nothing has really impressed me since the original.
Starfox could use an update, but he's used so infrequently, it really doesn't matter.
Ms.Marvel's current is my favorite.
I like She-Hulk's costumes from the 80's Avengers best, the newer looks have been pretty bad, (esp. the Marvel Legends figure).
classic Vision, i hated yellow Vizh
classic Capt. Marvel II/Photon, just lose the 'fro.
i like the green Quicksilver costume
I really hated Firestar's Avengers look/ I will always have a place in my heart for the Spider-Friends costume!

Wonderman - I like the red safari jacket and sunglasses. The green suit with the big W always looked cheesy. I know the safari jacket does too but somehow it just works for him.
Captain Marvel/Photon/Pulsar- I don't like the dreads. The afro wasn't much better. The costume was fine but worked best with the more subdued hair.
Hawkeye- Only the purple works - the strange green thing he wore for a while just didn't work.
Black Widow - Best with the long red hair. Nothing was worse than the black hair and fishnets though.
Wasp- I really like the black and yellow current look. There were plenty of bad costumes but I think two of the worst were the white number with only one leg and one arm and the green and red number she wore before, during, and after Secret Wars. She looked like the Molecule Man with Linda Evans' shoulder pads.
Hank Pym- Yellowjacket is definitely his best costume.
Hell-cat - I'm glad she's back to the traditional Cat costume. I don't know why they switched her to brown when she first returned from the dead.
Luke Cage - I like heroes to have costumes. I know the old Powerman look is a little dated but it sure beats the street clothes he wears now.
Scarlet Witch - Traditional costume with headpiece all the way. I never liked the evening gown with the big slit look. She's supposed to be going into battle not to the Oscars.
The brown bomber jackets didn't work for anybody.

Lessee...
Wasp - I think the second one she wore in vol. 3 #1, with the turtle neck, is my favorite. Of course, "favorite Wasp costume" is a hell of a statement, and she'll always be best remembered as the superheroine who changes her costume all the time.
Thor - Apparently, I'm one of few who prefers him bearded. Plus, I really like the "Lord Thor" armor...it basically has all of the same elements, but metallized. I think it makes him look a little more godlike.
Hank Pym - Hmmm. Yellowjacket's a cool costume, but the Ant-Man version of Giant-Man was also really nice-looking. Really, the 90's era Shaft knockoff and the Avengers #16 costume are the only bad ones he's ever had. Also, I'd like to mention that the majority of artists draw him too young-looking - he's supposed to be middle-aged, dammit!
Iron Man - Tough call, but I'd probably have to take the 90's modular armor. It's distinctive but simplistic, has a strongly "armored" look, and in general is a nice costume.
Scarlet Witch - I gotta say the gypsy outfit. Yeah, it's a goofy costume, but its competition is the tights-and-swimsuit look, which is at least three times as goofy-looking.
Firestar - The Perez outfit. A MILLION TIMES the Perez outfit. I absolutely loathe the fact that she's been sporting her old jacketed look from New Warriors in most recent appearances.
Quicksilver - Honestly, he's probably had the longest string of subtly terrible costumes. None of them are out-and-out horrific, but they're all just kinda bad-looking. If I had to choose one, it'd probably be the Onslaught-era silver and black/dark blue look.
Ms. Marvel - I don't think anyone prefers any look to her grey costume with the red sash and gold lightning bolt. I just want to note how much I utterly loathe the abomination of a "costume" she was stuck with after Johns's run - the one that just looked like a random set of pads and belts slapped over a black bodysuit. She only looked vaguely like a superhero because she was wearing a mask.
Moondragon - Give me the snow-white priestess look from Chriscross any day over her original green atrocity or the recent lame-as-hell light green tights. I don't think the character is ever going to look better than that Chriscross design.
Starfox - Speaking of Chriscross...Eros's redesign under Chriscross's pencils may be one of the most radical departures I've ever seen for a character, but d**n, anything would have been an improvement over the stuck-in-the-seventies look with the pointy hair. Still, the Chriscross costume loses a lot of points for being a one-artist costume (as seen by the fact that it was gone the second a new artist came on board Captain Marvel).
Ant-Man - between the three different Ant-Mans, I guess I gotta give the O'Grady costume the highest marks. It's a bit more dynamic than the classic, more distinctive than Lang's black and red costume, and a million times better than the goofy tiny-red-dots helmet post-Johns. Only quibble is that it's a bit too Spider-Man-esque.
Vision - I actually really like the Young Avengers Vision in terms of visual design. The classic costume is the best the original Vision ever had, but as far as Vision looks overall, I'd give the Iron Lad Redux Vision the honor.

Favorites: Wonderman- I liked the yellow, green, and red costume he wore for a very short time in the 160's. The Beast had actually made it for him! Unfortunately, he only had it for a very short time before it got destroyed and he switched to civies for a long time. :-( Vision-classic look Hank Pym-Probably Yellow Jacket, though Ant-Man is pretty cool too Clint-Hawkeye Wasp-I don't know. she's had so many, and most of them pretty nice, IMO
Least favorites: Wonder Man-He's had a lot of bad costumes, but the civies (red safari jacket and sunglasses)are probably my least favorite Hawkeye- shirtless Goliath Hank Pym- shirtless Goliath/Giant Man Iron Man-The original clunky gray one, of course Wasp- Her first costume, with that goofy helmet.
