As somewhat of an extension of RSC's poll on Civil War, let me pose this query:
Of all of the company-wide "events", from any publisher any time, which is your favorite and why?
I will side with Crisis on Infinite Earths. DC recognized that they could make things better, do some housecleaning at the same time, and this event went on to affect (and effect) the DC Universe for the next 20 years (that is, until Infinite Crisis, which I did not care for).

I don't really care for any Company wide crossovers. I've never seen one do well. I read Crisis but I'm not a DC person so I have no idea how well the characters were handled compared to their own books. Good story though. I always felt these big summer blockbuster stories always lose focus and the story, while maybe good in concept, gets diluted and unfocused. But then I've missed a lot of them so maybe there were a few good ones in there.

I generally like crossovers, because I love seeing very different characters work together/against each other. Some crossovers have been better than others and my mind, there needs to be a good reason for the various characters to come together.
"Civil War," for example, logically brought various characters from across the MU because they were all affected by the Registration Act. "Onslaught" however, should have been an X-Men story, not an X-Men/Avengers/Fantastic Four story.

For the most part I agree with you. I would, in fact, be hard pressed to pick a runner-up. I believe there was one of the Marvel Annual crossovers that wasn't bad, but it escapes me now what it was. I'd have to get off my butt and go look through the longboxes, and right now that isn't going to happen!

I was a fan of Acts of Vengeance. Borne of a plan brilliant in its simplicity, logical in its set up and execution, covers every corner of the MU, but still manages to be logically dealt with in the overall plan of each comic.
Loved it.

I didn't follow that one outside the titles I was already buying, but yes, it was a nice story -- well done!

I'd say Secret Wars, that's more a limited series than a proper crossover (like Acts of Vengeance for example), but it's my favorite. Crisis on infinite earths is probably the most important crossover to date, but too cosmic in nature for me.
