There seems to be little doubt that the Mighty Avengers will be led by Iron Man. He's the lone member of the Big Three on the team and has the strongest position in Marvel. However, there are at least four field generals making up the ranks of the assembledom of Avengers. One of the conflicts that could come from this line-up is the direction they take in the field, with many strong voices coming from:
Iron Man- A founding Avenger, Iron Man easily has the experience and the ability to lead the team both on and off the field. However, the events of Civil War may weaken his authority in pressure situations from regretful allies such as Ms. Marvel.
The Wasp- A founding member that is often overlooked, Jan has been the teams long-time strategist after her character came into its own in the 70s and 80s. She's often called the shots on Avengers teams lacking tradition field boss Captain America, but would likely take orders fine from her fellow founding Avenger. But she may not be as receptive to the orders of the others, especially long-time enemy Ares.
The Black Widow- She's the Black Widow. Do I really need to say more? Most of the issue here will be if this is the hero Black Widow or the "play by her own rules" spy Black Widow. If its the spy, then there would be conflict as Natasha takes orders from no one.
Ms. Marvel- Military training and background has made Carol a leader in the field, which has been showcased in her recent Civil War storyline. She's been an important part of the Avengers before and has been running Capekiller operations in the field, but will this translate to Mighty Avengers?
Ares- He’s a first time Avenger and another from the "playing by his own rules" school of thought. The God of War will likely not be too open to taking directions in combat and I would imagine would order the mortals around. He's never exactly looked like one who would take suggestions on how to fight.
Wonder Man and Sentry seem unlikely candidates for this role. Simon isn't really the character type and the Sentry has only ever said about fifty words since his debut. That still leaves five members of the team who could feasibly take control of the field leader position on the team. Any thoughts?
