Got this in my email today....
"Dear Amazon.com Customer,
As someone who has expressed interest in books by Brian Michael Bendis, you might like to know that Powers: The Definitive Collection Volume 2 HC will be released on February 7, 2007. "
I was like.... WHAT??? I ordered one book by that jackass (Dissasembled) before I knew what kind of jackass BMB was. To quote Ed Anger, I was pig biting mad. Amazon is lucky I couldn't reply to their ad or they would've got an earful... eyeful... whatever. Even the online sellers are trying to push this moron's work as something worth reading. Ptttuuuu... I spit on them.

Reminds me of when I sent hate e-mail to Howard Dean after he made some idiotic statement. What did I get for my five paragraphs of telling him off? I got added to the Democrat mailing list! He thanked me for my "support"--which of course reminded me of how our elected officials are hanging on our every word so that they might serve us better! I am still getting e-mails from that little worm.

I get that stuff from Amazon, too. Sometimes you get it even if you browse titles -- for example, running a search of their products under the heading "Avengers"...
And, sometimes when you go to their site, their cookies remember you and put up a "things you might be interested in" slate. Pretty good marketing, actually, but annoying nonetheless. Almost an invasion of privacy...
Bob, was it Dean's "we're going to the White House" bit that you responded to??

You should read "Powers." It's really good.

thew40--I read a couple of issues of that and couldn't get interested. This was before I knew who Bendis was.
Dlw--nope--I e-mailed Howard Dean when he made some idiotic statement about illegal immigration being a good thing.

I got a similar e-mail myself a few days ago, and it was about John Buscema visionaires book. Since I didn't know it was coming out, and I'm interested in it, I think it's an useful tool from Amazon ;D
