I asked this on the general board and it sunk faster than a stone into the mighty Mississippi. What I mean is Marvel keeps dropping hints that maybe Tony wont be in the armor after Civil War. Did I miss something? I don't see any discussion...

Doesn't mean he'll be in the armour, mind you the way things are going.
All I can say for sure is that it's not Steve Rogers!
(Though I swear, if it's Tony Stark's old deaf girlfriend...)

If it is, what, Doc...? Are you gonna tell me that such revoltin' development would prevent you from buying it...?

No, don't be ridiculous. Haven't we long established that I care more about the name on the cover than the content, that I'm a fake marvel fan who buys the evil marvel of today who are only after our money and I'll buy any piece of rubbish like civil war and say I like it? ...Oh wait, that may be this site's general cynicism affecting me In the interview RSC linked to in the Fallen Son thread it was said Steve will still be Cap, which seems to rule out him being Iron Man. And yes, the girlfriend thing was a dig at the one thing I can agree with 90% of this site and hardcore Avenger fandom on: Echo.

At the end of Civil War, Tony is the director of SHIELD, and has responsibility for the Initiative. That's an awful lot of work, given that SHIELD has been run in a dodgy way for years, so Tony must discharge the organization's mandate and also implement a plan to correct its flaws. On top of that, I don't see the man abandoning his engineering avocation. I'm sure he'll have a laboratory constructed near his office, but that's still time out of his day. All these things would, to me, seem to preclude time spent in the armor. Additionally, as a "key man" in SHIELD, it is probably not the best idea for him to be on the front lines.
Of course, these things applied to Stark International back in the day, and that never stopped him. So I guess we'll see. Perhaps he orders Jolt cola in the convenient 55 gallon drum size...

Yes, I did read it two days ago (CW #7), btw. I liked the "coffee" line he dropped to "agent" Hill...
But when Tony is more or less full time occupied as chief of SHIELD, will (can) he really have spare time to be Iron Man? I mean, at least, in point of some credibility. I know, these guys (Stark, Richards, Pym etc.) did always build "amazing" technical stuff in "incredible" short amounts of time. But then, in the past readers were not as watchful/critically like today?

Well, if we would want to be truly realistic, no way anybody could be the CEO & owner of a corporation as big & succesful as "Stark Enterprises" AND a superhero at the same time...

He's not only a technological genius -- he's a natural born human resources professional -- able to find just the right people my merely passing his hand over their resumes. He uses this power to select people that he can delegate everything to and never have to give a thought to the actual management of the company.

Yes, and it's NOT a conflict of interest for him to head the two either.

I believe that Tony is too much into himself and thanks only about himself in inwards ways. He also thinks that he can save the world from destruction all by himself. You don't say that isn't too greedy and selfish. I think he should share his work and make a life in respect to his inventions with others by having visitations and speaches about his work and creations and show them off to the public nice and freely in that is the marvel world. That was he could better keep his relations with his friends and others who wish to ask him any questions. I feel that he must show more aboundance about his life in the story and know how others would love to learn a lot from it.
