I read three comics today, featuring my three favorite (living) Marvel characters: IRON MAN, MS. MARVEL, and MOON KNIGHT.
I would say one took a significant step forward, one sort of shot for par, and one took a somewhat distressing step backward.
MOON KNIGHT #2 stepped it up. IRON MAN sort of held serve.
The comic that took a step back was MS. MARVEL. And this distresses me tremendously. I so, sooooo want this book to do well, to be a quality comic, to survive and thrive. But this issue... hrmm. One big fight scene-- and not one that was particularly well put together, I'd argue.
With the removal of explanatory captions from most Marvel comics, a much heavier burden has been placed on the artists to produce visuals that are understandable. Now, that's often a subjective thing, but still... in this issue, I was confused quite often by what was happening.
Add to that the cover.
Look, it's the Brood, all over the cover. They must play a big role in this issue.
Um. No.
They don't play a big role?
No. They do not appear in the issue. At all.
Yikes.
Gratuitous shots of Carol's butt kept me in the ballgame this month, but that can only go so far. Oh, who am I kidding. It'll keep me buying this book till it goes under. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that moment drew just a little closer, after #3 here.
Van's rating: ** out of five.

Sorry to hear that. I really enjoyed the first two issues, but don't plan on buying any new comics on a monthly basis from here on out, so missed number 3.
That's so annoying when the cover has nothing to do with what's on the inside. So, who does she fight?

The globby blue alien guy the Brood were running away from. That's the entire issue, too.
