I was about to reply the same thing, woodside, but when I quoted him I was able to read the description of the picture which didn't get through... It's from the "Iron Man" movie, apparently...

I have edited Doom's post, now you can click on the link and see the image. It looks like direct link to the picture was disabled.

I find it nice in films like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, and the Christopher Reeve Superman flicks that the companies did not find any need to alter costumes for the sake of the non-comic savvy consumers. The X-Men look like a bunch of purveyors of S&M.

I suppose it depends on how iconic the costume is. Wolverine's yellow costume makes sense in the colorful comic world, but it would be more than a bit ridicolous in a movie. And I remember a behind the scenes interview where Collin Farrel said "thank goodness they cut it out" when referring to Bullseye costume...
As for movies to come, I think that Cap's costume will probably stay the same, since it's heavily iconic and there is a reason behind that look. Thor however could change, I'm not sure how yellow boots and red cape would do for real.

I have to agree some of the X-Men costumes would look ridiculous onscreen, and there's not even a practical reason for most of them. Wolverine has absolutely no need to hide his face. To me, the x-uniforms of the movie just look like standard combat outfits. Some costumes work, some don't. Wolverine's... would not. (To me anyway)

Maybe I am wrong, but that looks like a live shot, not CG. Have they actually made a set of IM armor?

Maybe I am wrong, but that looks like a live shot, not CG. Have they actually made a set of IM armor? Yup. The CG was mainly used for the flying and such, the more grounded stuff is all costuming. Personally, I admire the effort but regret that they made such a perfect representation of an Iron Man design I was never crazy about.

Firstly; welcome, Dr Bolty! Always great to see a new face. Secondly, thanks for the info which I myself was not quite sure on.
