Considering all the Marvel and DC animated series, which ones are your favs (and why), and which ones do you really regret watching ?
Here is a list of all those I can remember, feel free to add others
Spider-Man TAS (the longest running) Spider-Man (the earliest one) Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends Other Spidey series (Unlimited etc) Iron-Man Silver Surfer Fantastic Four The Hulk Uncanny X-Men X-Men Unlimited Avengers Batman TAS Batman Dark Knight Batman Beyond The Batman Superman TAS Superman (1960) Justice League Super Friends Teen Titans Mighty Thor, Captain America, Namor, Hulk (from the "superhero hour" show ages ago)

Batman: The Animated Series is hands-down my favorite. Agreed. Batman Beyond was also very good.

I edited adding the 2 X-Men series. Up until 1 year ago, Batman TAS was my favourite, but now the #1 place is gone to Justice League. Seasons 1, 2 (especially) and 4 are really wonderful. I didn't like season 3 much, and I haven't seen #5 yet (but it's all on the pc, so just a matter of finding the time).
In comparison, most Marvel series I didn't really like. The best IMO were Spidey TAS and Uncanny X-Men, but nothing really outstanding.

I'd have to place Batman TAS and Justice League neck and neck at the top. Great stories and great animation. I love Bruce Timm's designs.
After that I'd probably say the first X-Men series, more for story than animation. Then Spider-Man TAS and Superman TAS.
From a purely nostalgic persepctive, the original Hanna Barbera Fantastic Four ( the one with the Torch, NOT Herbie!) has always been a favorite.

As a very small child (5-6 years old) I really loved the Marvel Super-heroes! Even though the animation was merely "clip-art" from the comics, it was so wide-eyed to see these stories come to life! The various Super Friends programs weren't mentioned above. I just adored those as part of my Saturday mornings! Watching them now on the Boomerang Network, they have a dopey quality that is sometimes painful, at other times joyfully nostalgiac. As has been mentioned around here many times, even recently -- the DC heroes of the 60's-70's were just cardboard cut-outs with interchangeable dialogue. And Batman plays like such a doofus

I always liked the old grantray lawrence stuff "when captain america throws his mighty shield..." in terms of animaton and story, the spider man of the nineties was pretty cool, but the second seasons of Iron Man and FF were probably my faves overall. I truly hated the FF with HERBIE.

I loved Captain Caveman and Underdog. I could never see Atom Ant or Mighty mouse again.

I loved Atom Ant as a kid, just because he was so cute. But I'm pretty sure those shows wouldn't do much for me today.
Anybody remember the Superman cartoon from the sixties? I know it was syndicated in the seventies - that's when I saw it. Usually there would be three separate stories. One was always Superman, but the other two might have Superboy (and Krypto!), or even on rare occasions the Justice League. The animation was pretty standard, but it had a great theme song.

Tananile, that's the cartoon where Superman has his S on black background, isn't it ? I think it's kept in very high consideration in these days, as an oustaing example of early super-heorics animation.
I completely forgot about Super Friends, and also about Teen Titans and "The Batman", both of which I've never seen so far. Adding them now

If I recall, the Superman with the black background is from the Fleischer studios in the 1940's. It is amazing how closely the folks who did Batman: The Animated Series followed the prompts of the Fleischers. By the way, the Fleischer Superman cartoons are available on DVD and can generally be found at very affordable prices. I bought a set from a close-out book dealer -- 2 DVD's for $5, I think. All 18 cartoons are included. Two of them I use in my Holocaust class when we discuss propaganda.

It went through a few versions, being just Superman, then the Superman-Aquaman hour, and then Superman-Batman Hour! This youtube clip shows the Justice League (of America!):

I assumed that was the cartoon you were speaking of, which didn't depict the Man of Steel all that differently from how we'd see him on Super Friends! The cool thing about Justice League, Superman, Batman, and Super Friends on the Boomerang network is that with no commercials, the network has to fill the last five minutes of time. They frequently bust out the Filmation cartoons. The only problem I have with those is that the Kid Flash costume is reversed in color!!!!

WHAAA?!?!?!?!?
Oh man, you have not lived. The Tick is the best comic charater ever. So far ahead of it's time. The Tick book was full of wacky ninjas when Bendis was still just writing for his school newspaper.
Somebody get that man a copy of the Tick.

I decided to check out Batman TAS after vaguely remembering not liking it as a little kid (I was like 5). So three weeks later I own volumes one and two on DVD. The show is like crack.
I love that the only think Batman can think of doing whenever kids help him is to shoot them the thumbs up. Awesome.

I liked the Spiderman original cartoOn series, least I saw the reruns.I also concur, Batman: animated series was good, I bought 3 of the 4 DVDs. Batman Beyond eventually grew on me as well. Bruce Timm & Co. put the ' BiFF, BaM, pOW! back into cartoOns so-called '70's P.C. movement removed.
