Has anyone seen it ? I'm planning to go and watch it at some point next week, and was wondering if anyone could give a brief comment.

I, too, am interested in comments. See it now, wait for a rental, or skip entirely. The first weekend it did very well - but that could be a pre-release hype bump. I think the key will be looking at how much it loses this week, especially since two movies likely to compete for the same audience debut this weekend.

I would recommend seeing it... IMO, it wasn't a great movie, but a good, interesting one nonetheless.

I thought it was a lot of fun... Great special effects, and the mix of Johnny Blaze and Dan Ketch's origions are good.

Sorry to drag up a month old thread, but I was bored tonight so I thought why not give this movie a chance.
First off, let me be up front. I typically loathe Nick Cage. There have been two things that Nick Cage ever did to entertain me... "Tiny Elvis" and National Treasure. Otherwise I have not cared for him in anything I have ever seen... and yes that includes Raising Arizona, a blasphemous as I know people think that is to say.
Furhtermore, I have absolutely practically have NO knowledge of Ghost Rider... period. The character never interested me. And what little I know I picked up from the West Coast Avengers Trapped in Time arc back in the day, the game Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and bits and pieces from comic websites and forums, such as this.
So, after all that quantifying information, what did I think of this movie?

Would God Awful be too strong, or inappropriate? The acting was horrid. About what I expect from Cage. Eva Mendes is certainly easy on the eyes, but dear god who told her she could act? It was like watching some of the people on American Idol who have been told by everyone around them how great they are. I love almost any Sam Elliot part in a movie, and his was the most enjoyable, but it was too limited to have much of an impact. I will say that the actor who played Blackheart was solid in a rather stereotypical bad-ass demon role. I noramlly like the guy that played Johnny Blaze's road manger (from movies and his sitcom), but was not impressed with him here either. Even Peter Fonda seemed off... it made me wonder if the production schedule was like 2 weeks of filming and a year of CGI work. I can't imagine there were worse takes of scenes laying on the cutting room floor.
The CGI was pretty good, and I was worried that it was going to be awkward with the first GR transformation, as his head seemed to be oddly placed, and not fitting right on the body, but they apparently fixed that through the rest of the movie.
I think I would have liked to see at least one flash of the classic Marvel-look for Mephisto, even it was only in a color washed quick flashback type of scene or something. Even if it was just for a frame or two. I also wish that they would have given the original GR look to Elliots character on his last ride. I mean if you are going to make a horrible movie, and they had to know this was not like a Spider-Man/Batman Begins quality superhero flick, why not go ahead and try to stay true (or more true) to the comic designs where at all possible. Meh.
At any rate, if you are looking to kill time and you are a big GR fan, or a comic fan in general, then I guess you could waste your money. I personally would suggest you wait for it on PPV, or even HBO or whatever channel gets it.
CGI was decent overall, though it seemed like they opted to have Nick Cage face time in the last 30 minutes in places that felt like they needed full GR ablaze. That was either to justify his salary, or to save money in CGI costs... or maybe both.
Action was just ok. Seemed oddly paced... the bad guys bought it rather quickly without much of a battle.
If not for the CGI, I don't think that I could rank it much higher than the two Schumacher Batman movies.
1.5 out of 5 - ugh.
