Hey, all, Doom here again.
I was pondering while watching the 'Ultimate Avengers' movie which had finally arrived from the states. (Pretty good, all things considered) and a question popped into my mind, a biggie.
We all know it wouldn't be the Avengers without Captain America. We also know both Avengers AND Captain America movie projects are underway.
So here's my question, do you think Captain America should be 'discovered' (รก la Avengers #4) in a Captain America movie or an Avengers movie? There are cases to be made for both:
Captain America Movie This would allow a full spotlight to really be shone on the Captain's world war II exploits and how exactly he came to be frozen in a block of ice anyhow. It would give the 'Man out of time' aspect a nice chance to shine, and wouldn't confuse movie-goers who hadn't seen the Avengers movie. In addition, it would give the Avengers movie one less character to introduce.
Avengers Movie: Captain America was originally found, both in 616 and in The Ultimates, by the Avengers, and he joined them almost straight away. This could add weight to the discovery as we are able to view the impact of his return from the point of view of the other heroes. It could also poise him as the major character, of course!
Note that while it would be necessary in both, I'm asking which it should happen in FIRST.
Myself, I would push for it to be in an Avengers movie, so that the Cap movie can almost spin OUT of it. It would keep fairly canoical in this way, and would show the real weight of Cap's return. This would lead to the Cap movie being able to deal more fully with himself and his reaction to his return in this new, different time. (I'd also put some flashbacks of how he was frozen/Bucky died into the Avengers movie, but retell it in detail in the Avengers movie)
So, thoughts?
