Yes, I did buy (and subscribed the series as well) the issue primarily of David Finch´s drawings. That, of course, because I like his dark and dreary style which (so it seems) fits the character quite well. The fact that it is (for the time being) ongoing helped too. I haven´t had read any of Moon Knight`s series before and nearly don´t know any Avengers issue with him participating. So I really do not know what character he is. In this first issue writer Charlie Huston introduces the character which (on first look) seems to be alike some kind of Batman. Huston mentions in an editorial that he is a huge fan of the Moench/Sienkiewichz stories from the first series and that he will try to make stories in their style. Is MK #1 a good one? Yes, in the first story doesn´t happen that much, otherwise than the introducing of this dark character, but as I said, I do like Finch´s art very much. So I´m looking forward. What do you guys think of the issue? Do you know any of the former series? What about the mentioned Moench/Sienkiewichz stories - if Huston writes this style, will this be bode well? And what about the West Coast issues with Moon Knight (I`ve got them all, but haven´t read them yet). Was MK an important member of the team?

Moon Knight's always been one of my favorite characters, ever since I read MOON KNIGHT #2 by Doug Moench (one of my favorite writers) and Bill S., back in the day. (I missed #1 and never did find a copy.)
After reading that issue, I tracked down his earlier appearances, such as the MARVEL SPOTLIGHT issues, and only recently sold them. I also bought every issue of that original Moench run as it came out, up through the 30s, at least. (It was the first Marvel comic to become "direct sales only"-- you had to either get it at a comics shop or via subscription, so I subscribed.)
Those comics were great. Moench had a flair for writing quirky characters and concepts, and Bill S's art was groundbreaking. The villains were very interesting, too, as was all the psychology going on with the multiple personalities of the lead character, the Khonshu aspect, etc.
I never read any of the later appearances, including the Avengers-joining ones. If Moench wasn't writing him, I didn't much care to read about MK.
Now, after such a long layoff, I'm thrilled to see Moonie back in action, especially because it looks like the new writer really gets the character. I think I enjoyed his editorial at the end even more than the comic itself, and I could totally identify with what he said.
The art was okay. It's not my favorite style, but it does seem to suit the character and the book pretty well. I doubt this series will sell big, and probably is destined for cancellation (again), but I intend to enjoy it for as long as it's around (again!).
Oh, note that ESSENTIAL MOON KNIGHT #1 is out now, with reprints of all the early MK stories, including the first ten issues of the Moench/Bill S. run!

That sound´s really good, hopefully Huston will get into the style of Moench. As for a possible (not to soon, I hope) cancellation. I think Finch´s drawings are the main reason that the series started as an ongoing one, as we know he´s quite popular at the moment.
Maybe the duo of Huston/Finch can give MK some kickstart that the series will be (and stay) successful.
