Since things have been somewhat slow lately I'd like to talk about a stupid pet peeve of mine: lack of accuracy when coloring the eyes of certain Marvel heroes... To begin with, there are already more than their share fare of blonde, blue-eyed superheroes, so it kinda bothers me when, quite often, some of the brown or black eyed dogooders (or dobadders...) are wrongly depicted as having blue eyes... such as Reed Richards, Dr. Doom, Peter Parker, etc... and, for some reason, it's always blue eyes...! You never see a mistake where the character in question is given green eyes, or at least I've never seen it! Has anybody else noticed this, or been bothered by it...? By the way: I am correct in thinking that Wolverine's supposed to have brown eyes, right...?

Hmmm... interesting topic.
Worst eye panel ever nominee: Spidey gets the defeated burglar in the light and sees that he is the same hood that he had the chance to stop earlier in Amazing Fantasy #15.
How's this: Batman and Wolverine -- eyes or just plain ol' white?

Ah! dw66, the same thing happens with the Black Panther... sometimes his mask has holes where you can see his eyes & at other times there're only those blank, white coverings...

Although I suppose the answer might be fairly simple: he has a set of masks with "eye holes" & another without them...!

In a couple of Avengers v1 issues the Black Panther has a mask that's open on the mouth, like Captain America, in the same arch, the next issue, his face is back to being fully covered. Someone screwed up his costume. During the Roy Thomes era, i believe.

You are correct, Ultron. I believe he debuted in FF with a "half-mask", not the one we more commonly think of him wearing. Similar topic would be Galactus pictured with or without sleeves/pants... Maybe he has summer wear, I don't know

Hmm...do you suppose sometimes his wife wears an eye-covering mask that otherwise looks exactly like her own face? ;D She often has that Little Orphan Annie syndrome… Ororo's power triggers her eye change. This has been stated over and over both verbally and visually in various x-titles over the years, most noticable in the ninties to address the very question by fan boys (such as myself). Storm is by far, to me, the at the center of the x-men drama. She did, after all lead the X-men on more missions that that loser Cyclops. Back in the day, the X-men laid down their life for her more than once (X-Men Annual ? & Fall of the Mutants Storyline.) Wolverine is especially loyal, she calls Colosus little brother, and had a brief "twist" with Nightcrawler. When she thought Xavier was dead she aligned with Magneto. She has always agreed with Xaviers dream of peace, but always choose different methods. She was never Xavier's lapdog, but viewed him more as an equil, like a friend giving advice. being a long time x-fan (yup, i've read them all except a brief period from '99-'03ish) at first I didn't like the marriage, but then when someone told me that it was the realization of Xaviers dream (The peaceful co-exsistance of humans and mutants.) Then, I kinda liked the idea. I always felt that it was kinda weird that Storm was spending so much time away from Africa, a land that she is tied to, at once ahe was a goddess there, and she knows the land intamatly, so I also like the idea of her spending time there. It seems in charecter. However, remember all you Avengers fans, it's not Black Panther and Storm, it's Storm and Black Panther.

Do you guys remember that in the beggining of the Claremont/Byrne run in X-Men Wolverine was an ugly looking short guy, and with the raise of his popularity he became less ugly and taller?

I can rarely remember Wolverine ever being drawn as 5'3" as he is listed in the Handbooks.

I think Spidey's eyes were first depicted blue by Romita Sr, during most of his run, but after that they went back to brown as far as I know. Batman sometimes has been depicted to wear white lenses, which actually look rather scary in some live movies (has anyone seen fans' made Dead End or World's Finest (or Grayson) for that matter ? ) Green eyes... I think in Avengers v#3 Wanda is consistently depicted with green eyes instead of blue as in the past.

I don't have the issues where she first appeared, so I'm not sure (it would make sense given the dark hair). I think I read the green / blue thing in the V3 notes in the main website.
