I have decided to start collecting comics after 20 years of not reading them. ( I am 37) I am big Marvel fan. There are few things that I can't stand right now. I just started reading again, but I have caught up on all the back stories on my favoriate characters. I goint to list these out and reason why this bothers me:
1. NA- This series has great potential. There are outcast and icons here that could have made great stories. I get the feeling that people in the Marvel offices don't know how to handle these characters. Captain America is the leader because of his ideals not because he kicks ass. Iron Man was alway the rich boy that learns from those around how to be an adult not some pompus not a very nice person. Spider Man is an adult with tragic past not some goofy teenager that still watch Bevis and Buthead. Spiderwoman is most tragic character here that has been done right. Wolverine would be great if the let him interact with Cap more than the typical "This is how we do things". Cage could be flesh out more and give me reason to think he belongs.Sentry is a character I don't too much about as far as this book goes. I wonder why.
2. Spiderman was the first comic I read when I was 6 years old. Spiderman has been my fav since then for that reason. Ok. I can handle the costume changes, clones, and reappearing not dead people. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TIE UP THE LOOSE ENDS!!!.What about Peter and MJ's baby? What about all these clones? What is the talk about killing MJ? Let me address the last one. I think it would be a huge mistake to kill, divorce, or put MJ in a coma for the next 20 years. MJ has been the focual point to Peter's life for almost 40 years. She IS Marvel's Lois Lane. They are married and they can't write about it? You mean to tell me none of the guy had a serious releationship they draw from to give them ideas. I think the core of TODAY'S Peter Parker should move forward. Have him be a husband and father to give him more depth and show us more what Peter is about. I hate the fact they said it is too hard to write about marriage. ummmmm..Peter isn't 15 anymore. In Marvel time, he should be about 30 the teenage tragic hero wouldn't fly now.
3- Mutants in general. I know about the House of M. While I think it was great idea, but I don't like the results. Too many good characters were lost for whatever reason. Jubliee being most noteable. I like her character and the interaction with Logan. I think that Marvel screwed up on that on. Plus, Scarlet Witch just wondering of to some villiage is stupid. Like Magento, Quicksliver, and others would be looking for her no matter where she went. Talk about out of character for these guys espiecally Magento. He would be hunting her down to get his powers back and explain what happen. I think the Mutant Crazy was getting out of hand, but Marvel lost sight of what certain Mutants would do to get them back.
Well, this is long enough. I will talk about other character after I read their current issues.
Thanks.
