What titles outside of the big two are you into right now
1. Mouse Guard, on the urgings of DLW I broke down and read this. It's very good. One question DLW, is the black axe the only thing out or are there other stories out there?
2. Preacher: I couldn't tell you why but it's addicting to me.
3. G.I.Joe: this is the Devil's Due release. Since there really isn't a toy line out anymore this doesn't have to be an advertisement. There is very nice artwork and good stories.
4. Lone Ranger: I just love it
5: Fables: I know you can say this falls into line with DC but I still put it outside the regular fare. Very good writing and very good artwork. I just read through all 63 issues today.
So, what are you chewing through and try to pimp it to our interests

Gargoyles, not sure what's the editor as I don't have it right next to me now. I loved the tv series a decade ago, and I'm really enjoying this finally official sequel.
Then a couple of mangas and that's it comics wise besides Marvel and DC.

I recently bought the hardcover of MOUSE GUARD but have not read it yet.
I'm reading CONAN BPRD HELLBOY
Tried GODLAND but did not dig it.
Used to read a few others, but some have ended and some I dropped.

I'm only reading Invincible at the moment. I tried to get into Sidekick but I don't think my sense of humour matched up.

None, but as the only way to keep track of my favourite writer, I'm gonna have to. So Kick-Ass #1 will probably be my first non BIg Two title- and with my favourite writer and maybe my #3 favourite artist, I don't see how it can go wrong!

I assume you wouldn't include Y: The Last Man or Powers since the come from the Big 2's Imprints
Other Than that, its mostly Manga and Image
The Darkness, collected in compendium format
Spawn, collected in TPBs
and for the Mangas, I get most of them off and on depending on that weeks pull size because I'm either collecting a completed series, or still in the proccess of catching up to the newest volumes Death Note Rurouni Kenshin Flame of Recca Inu yasha Blade of the Imortal Bleach Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto

Some stuff I tried and couldn't keep:
Human Target: The first few issues I liked, but the art went downhill on me and the plot became a little hard to follow for me
American Virgin: It's OK but the overt attack on religious values are a little to persistent. It's not that I'm against criticism of the religious machine but I felt there could have been more story mixed in
Alchy, you mentioned Full metal Alchemist, what does that series have to offer as far as story goes. I've been thinking about giving it a look, I just haven't tried it out yet.

Well I actually got into it from the Anime which I liked. Apparently the Manga follows a significantly different story path that diverges after the second book (So far so diverged).
Its basically the story of two boys who live in a world that has both mechanical science and the 'science' of alchemy. Alchemy is basically a magical way of recombining the elemental structure of mater to reform something into something else.
The two boys lose their mother at a very young age, and as Alcemist prodigies they try and re-create her, an alchemy taboo. In the process, Older brother Ed loses an arm and a leg, Younger brother Al looses his whole body and has his soul bonded to a suit of armor. The story focuses on their search a way to fix themselves.
I'm only on Chapter 13, but despite having child protagonists, the story is very dark at times (And very light hearted at others). It touches on war, fake gods, government cover ups, biological engineering, human experiements, and serial killers, but through most of the story, our Heroes try to hold themselves to a higher standard, and don't kill unless they have to.

1. Mouse Guard, on the urgings of DLW I broke down and read this. It's very good. One question DLW, is the black axe the only thing out or are there other stories out there? I think you’re misremembering me, actually. The story with the Black Axe, originally appearing as a six-issue LS and then reprinted in a single volume, is the sole Mouse Guard tale released to date. A second LS has been set to debut this month, but it hasn’t come out yet, nor do I see it on Diamond’s shipping lists for the remaining weeks of July. Even if it comes a little late, I look forward to it. Note: August is the planned debut for Michael Oeming’s unrelated but similar-sounding Mice Templar, published by Image.

My deepest and most humble apologies. I owe you thanks for turning me onto it. Not only did I enjoy it, I was comfortable in letting my kids read it as well.

My deepest and most humble apologies. Yeah, imagine mixing me up with that Doug person–! Da noiv! You’re welcome. Not only do I like Mouse Guard on its own merits, but I appreciate that it’s a break from the usual. As I said about Owly in my Owly thread, it’s gratifying to both introduce others to the joy of such a work and, in so doing, help support the work. A little extra breadth in the comics market is a good thing.

Death Note Rurouni Kenshin Flame of Recca Inu yasha Blade of the Imortal Bleach Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto How is Inuyasha ? I've seen a few episodes of the anime, but never the manga. Bleach is apparently a very popular series, I know many people who read it, and Naruto is good fun, both anime and manga

Well I actually got into Inu Yasha through the Anime, which just ends (Sorta canceled because one of the key guys in the production died), without resolving any plot elements. I've started on the Manga to find out how it all ends, and thus far the manga follows the same plot of the anime pretty closely, minus a few filler spots here and there.
Inu Yasha is pretty good though, a decent mix of action humor and drama, and it does a good job of maintaining the 'fairy tale' atmosphere.
And I just read the newest Naruto Scan before comming to this board, its gotten more intense than it was at the beggining fo the series, I hope the anime follows the manga as closley as possble.

going to add:
Walking dead - this one I almost bypassed because I'm not huge into all the horror stuff. But I gave it a shot, and it's really not about all that horror stuff. It's about how the people deal with it. really well done
Invincible - This is just a nice read
Von Beck, I've been looking at that Dynamo 5 title and wandering. Now that you've confirmed it I', gonna give it a try.

Are the Transformers books any good for someone whose knowledge of the Transformers is quite limited?

actually, the new stuff is. you'd probably want to pick up the trades of idw's first few storyarcs, because a lot of the story {their reasoning, why the humans are there, why their on earth} is explained there, but otherwise you dont need to know anything else.
