Right back at you, Shiryu! In addition to your numerous outside actvities (job, translating, writing, etc.), as our peerless moderator you also manage to keep this board running smoothly. Kudos, my friend--and Happy Birthday!! BTW, if any of you haven't read Shiryu's chapter on the "Big Three" in Assembled! 2 yet, do yourselves a favor and read it. It's fascinating and very illuminating! (And as I'm sure you can tell, Shiryu, this was inspired by your great post a while back of those hilarious Rat-Man cover homages. ;D)

Wow, the same day? The same day?? Oh, it's eerie, is what it is. . . And also cool, of course. Clearly, April 7th is the day to be born if one wants to become a deep-thinking, intellectually-gifted, high-achiever who nevetheless avoids falling into the trap of thinking they're "all that", as it were.
Congratulations-- it's an honor to share the multiverse w/ both of you!

Thanks everyone!! Sadly outside duties still keep me away more than I'd like, but I'm always reading you And a special thanks to Sharkar!! This time you beat me to the punch, that artwork is fantastic and very funny. Great memory too with those old Rat-Man covers!

Hey, Happy Birthday, KidCage! Ahhhh, to be 26 again. . . when those lines on one's abdomen were ridges of muscle and not wrinkles of fat. . . when one could eat 2 dbl whoppers w/ cheese and not feel the arteries clogging moment by moment. . . when one didn't have to call for help in the midst of reviewing old yoga positions. . .
The salad days, yup.
Say, KC--- could you maybe hit Burger King, and eat outside shirtless, and maybe impress a couple of elligible young ladies on behalf of all of us that are (oy!) old enough to be your father. . . or at least much, much older brother--? Live the old dream for us, as it were?
(Geeze, you're probably going to, like, eat an entire half of a birthday cake, aren't you? Daggone it. . . where's my Pepto Bismol?)

LOL thanks everybody. Yeah, it was a good birthday. Had a fatburger, went to Kick-Ass... nothing like getting older. I joke with my fiancee what it's like for her to date such an old man, and her response is "your older than me by six months." I wonder if she's going to keep that sense of humor when I turn forty, lol.

Hey! Heyheyhey! It's Spiderwasp's Birthday! Wow- he's, like, one of those Avengers Founding Member/Mount Rushmore types 'round here. . .
Celebrate, brother! Don't let this trifling inconvenience casually refered to as "middle age" stifle your jolly day-- a day where you're afforded the oppotunity to just be glad that ya got put here in the first place. Plus there's usually cake. . .

Hey, Happy Birthday, dlw! Say, you think you might want to chime in on that "7 worst Avengers" thread? It's always great to hear from an ancient, wise, seasoned stalwart such as yourself-! (I mean that, of course, in the nicest & most respectful sense. Besides, I'm a touch older than you, so the whole "Wisdom as a biproduct of advanced age" thing makes me look a trifle better by comparison. Heh.)
Think of it as, er, your birthday gift to us, maybe, eh?
Didja get any neat-o stuff? Any whoop-ti-do celebratory shenanigans?

Thanks to all for the well wishes!
No comic goodness necessarily, although I did treat myself to a lot of reader-grade Bronze Age mags that will arrive in the mail tomorrow. Bought 24 books on ebay for $3.25! My Father's Day gift was given about a month ago in the form of a new grill.
The family celebrated today by seeing Toy Story 3, which I highly recommend. Like all good kiddie flicks, it has humor at two levels, and is exceptionally well done. My wife and I both got misty near the end when Andy heads off to college, as that will be our experience with our oldest in just two short months.
Thanks again, and to all -- be well!!

Oho! Is that Starfoxx's birthday I see at the bottom of my topics page? A blistering midsummer celebration? An event that undoubtedly completely overshadows our own nation's birthday just two days prior?
Happy Birthday, man!

Hoo-boy. . . step over here into ol' Uncle HB's Benevolent Kiosk of Opposite Sex Enlightenment, and let him guide you back onto the Path of Beloved Contentment. . . A celebration that you benefit from is very often just as important (or even more important) to the loved ones who are creating that celebration. The gift benefits both the giver & the receiver, mud-dauber. (Well, grasshopper's already been taken-) Ah, men. Why are we so flawed, and yet so irresistible? I must say, though, that water park, cheesesteak & ball-game don't sound like a bad time at all. . . Hey, am I seeing that it's another 2 for 1 day? (Perhaps it's a- heh- "Marvel Two-In-One" day, eh? Oh, that's funny. . . ) Master Marketer of Collectible Statues-- HoldyourfireAl! (TALK to us, Al, TALK to us! We're your friends!) I think. . . I think he really IS Randy Bowen in disguise. . . ! Or maybe Alicia Masters. . . and Our intrepid contributor from Germany: Michidiers! Who regularly takes us back on welcome visits to many of our favorite issues of decades gone by. It's been particularly gratifying and enlightening to see the reactions of someone taking in these stories for the first time. It certainly rekindles that spark of what we loved about them ourselves. Happy Birthday, fellows! Check in w/ Starfoxx (up above you here, somewhere) on perhaps a particularly fine way to enjoy your day! (Okay, but clear it with your girlfriends first, that's what I'm sayin'. . . ;D ) HB

Thanks guys! I don't lurk here as often as I used to, mainly for time reasons and I'm just burnt out on super-hero comics right now.
But W Jr is on her way! Mrs W has had a high-risk pregnancy, which has been pretty stressful, but it'll be coming to an end soon!
Thanks again for the birthday wishes, everyone!

Mrs W has had a high-risk pregnancy, which has been pretty stressful, but it'll be coming to an end soon! Thanks again for the birthday wishes, everyone! Ahhh, it's good to hear from you, WS-- thanks for checkin' back in-! As I've recently discovered, I clearly STOPPED reading comics entirely at about this point before our first child was born, and just kept the subscriptions coming blindly. And it was years before I started actually reading regularly again. There's just. . . no time. If you have the time and immobility it takes to read a comic book, then you're probably going to fall asleep instead. Glad to hear that a nervous pregnancy appears to be approaching its happy conclusion--- we're all massively in there pulling for the three of you! (And girls are, of course, not at all the alien creatures that so many new dads seem to think they'll be. My daughter & I are hopelessly alike in our tastes in movies, old TV shows, fun activities, and particularly in our sense of humor--- much to the horror & chagrin of the rest of the family. . . !) HB P.S.-- So, will it be Wanda Woodside? Wendy Woodside? (Waitaminute, I knew a Wendy Woodside in college. . .) Wolverina Woodside? Wolfgirl Woodside? Hmm-- Wood-goddess Woodside. . . ?

Omigod!! It's him! It's cfb!!! It's his birthday--- right there at the bottom of the topic page!!! Am I the only one who sees this?? Evidence, I tell ya--- evidence! He exists!!!! Geeze, geeze, geeze-- it's the early years of Mr. Snuffleupugus all over again. . . Or the way Captain Kangaroo never, ever, ever saw the Two-penny Piper. . . This has implications to rival ROSEBUD. . . HB (PS-- Happy Birthday to ya, by the way, chum-! We don't have to forget ya just 'cause you maintain a Sphinx-like presence-- it's all part of what adds character to the joint, yes? )
