The Avengers have given us several great one-line statements. "Avengers Assemble" is a good one. On another thread Thor saying "Ultron we would have words with thee" is another.
What are some of your favorite one-liners from the book. If you can, name the story and/or the issue it's from. Post as many as you want.

"DO YOU THINK THIS LETTER ON MY HEAD STANDS FOR FRANCE? "- Ultimate Cap I’ve never read it, but I gather that the A stands for asinine. Still, the quote reawakens my yearning for Alsace…
Phantom quote: BWAH HA HA HA HA!!!!! I was disappointed that this topic wasn’t about me until I read this post. Thanks, Doug!
One of my favorites comes from the cover of #15: “Now, by my hand, shall perish a villain!” (The story’s title substitutes die for perish.) Cap vs. Zemo—great stuff!

There's a simple line that's stuck with me all these years, in the penultimate issue of the Kree-Skrull War saga (Avengers #96). Amid all the chaos and activity, Cap is barking orders via radio transmission to Clint (who's Goliath, but who has lost his growing powers). In the panel I'm referring to, Adams draws Clint's face sans Clint's characteristic smirk, and Roy's dialogue perfectly captures the enormity and hopelessness of the situation, the responsibility of being an Avenger, and Clint's singular personality:
"I read ya, Cap."

Batman (sorry, you all took some of the best Avengers lines) in The Dark Knight Returns, #1. Batman's in a tenement stalking some thugs. He's crouched under a stairwell and is running over the myriad ways he can defense his position. He concludes his thought with --
"One just hurts."

I’ve never read it, but I gather that the A stands for asinine. Pretty much. Ultimate Cap IS an ass, but who cares, he's a badass mofo of an ass who could teach Samuel L Jackson a thing or two about badassery Can I enter "anything Spidey ever says" as a great one-liner? And a fantastic one-worder was in CW7... <Reed and hanchmen confront Spidey> <Spidey smashes down all henchmen in like 5secs> Reed: Amazing! Spidey: Spectacular! <kicks reed through window> Just that last line, in context, kicked ass. As did "THOU ART NO THOR!"

Holy cow, Sharkar, I thought I was the only person in the world who remembered that scene! I read that as a small kid and ever since then the poignancy of it has stuck with me. Here's Clint, with no powers at all now, just a man, going up against a shipful of Skrulls. He shows what a true hero is all about: ready to sacrifice himself for a greater cause. An exalt to you brother!

Yes, I love that panel. That saga was so full, what with all the action, the burgeoning Wanda-Viz relationship, the Vietnam War overtones, the amazing cast of characters, the often-magnificent art--even with all that going on, that panel has stayed with me since I first saw it years ago. It worked on so many levels. Thanks, I appreciate that! ;D (For what it's worth, it should be "sister"... )

Nor did I! Not that it matters... Tana and sharkar certainly break any stereotypes about women either not being interested in comics or not as interested as men. There is a lot of comic knowledge and appreciation here!!!

Sorry...never intended it to be a secret, I just didn't disclose my gender when I joined. And then it never really came up, but when Tana addressed me as "brother" (understandable), all of a sudden I felt slightly guilty... Nice avatar too by the way! Thanks! She has always been one of my favorite characters.

Well it's certainly not a big deal with me -- your "covert-ness" could have remained so, and it would not have diminished at all your contributions to many, many discussions that have taken place in these parts!

Okay, back on topic. Here's another one-liner (or two-liner) I like, though it evokes a completely different reaction than the Clint one. I came across this just a couple of months ago while reading the Galactic Storm 2 tpb.
As you may know, in the aftermath of the debacle that was Operation: Galactic Storm, Cap is very dispirited, discouraged, questioning his beliefs, etc. Clint is once again involved, urged by Wanda and 'Tasha to talk to Cap "man to man," so Clint persuades Cap to go out with him and they go to a bar. Clint orders some beer for them, and Cap says:
"You know I don't drink. I'm a role model..."
Even though I had known of the line (before actually coming across it here in the tpb), it made me laugh out loud...it was so perfect, so Cap.

Well, I have been wanting to change my user name (a la uberwolf and ua2). My current name is just a combo of my first and last names and I'm not crazy about it. Hmmm, "Ronin" doesn't sound too bad...

Sharkar has a nice ring to it. Ronin would be too confusing, it could be seen as a tip of the hat to either Frank Miller or Bendis. And now Ronin is Clint Barton, a male hero again...
