Capcom today sent out a release finally offering a release date for Marvel Vs. Capcom 2's new downloadable edition, at least for PlayStation 3. The much loved game will come to the PlayStation Network on August 13th, at a price of $15. The Xbox360 edition of the game will run 1200 MS Points, the equivalent of $15, on the previously announced release date of July 29th.
For the unfamiliar, the game pits Marvel heroes and villains against some of the most well known (and a few obscure) characters from Capcom's extensive library. Matchups like Hulk vs. Zangief and Cyclops vs. Ryu are just the start, as the game offers 3 vs 3 tag team play. The new editions for PSN and LIVE will feature online competitive play along with offline multiplayer.
The game has quite the history, having been released in Arcades, then in somewhat limited runs on Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. The game is notoriously hard to find for those systems, and used game retailers have charged as much as $120 for an used edition.
