Being a Marvel fan used to be so easy. I knew who everyone was. Sure, there were occasional things like the Black Widow suddenly goes from Black hair to red, Hawkeye teporarily becomes Goliath, Medusa goes instantly from villain to hero and don't even get me started on Hank Pym's flavor of the month, but still I could keep up pretty easily. But today:
Kate Bishop is Hawkeye and Clint Barton is Ronin. Hank Pym is the Wasp. Buck Barnes is Captain America. Mac Gargan is Venom. Some woman is the Black Panther - I don't even know why or what that means for T'Challa. Ultron and Loki are women. There's a female Quasar. Moondragon is apparently a dragon? There are two Hulks. The Vision is a teenager. Matt Murdock is Daredevil? I can't keep up. And this is without even getting started on the whole Norman Osborne is a hero and the Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers/Whatever are everybody.
I propose a new series featuring Stan Lee being put into the current Marvel Universe with the old tag line from Howard the Duck "Trapped in a world he never made"

Spiderwasp--you forgot to mention that there is a group maquerading as the Avengers.
About the only unifying thing at Marvel these days is Wolverine--he's in every Marvel comic. Oh wait--he's the Hooded Man, Weapon X, Logan, blah blah blah. Oh who cares.

Brian Michael Bendis is an idiot, yet some people buy his stuff. Now THAT'S confusing.

I agree with all of this, but things are MUCH more confusing at DC! I don't even think the creators know what's going on!

Don't you guys think what's happening in comics is similar to what's going on in the world in general these days? Seems like everywhere you look, things are falling apart. There's no core anymore. It seems like this mad dash towards making money off this "global economy" has left everyone wondering who we really are. It's the scariest time I've seen in my 44 years. It's almost like the Chaos Theory coming to full bloom...

You know, of the 12 specific items Spiderwasp listed, I was only aware of five of them. I have subscriptions to several titles (including NA), and I haven't been sitting down and reading any of them for months. Occassionally opening one to check in, and being horrified or dumbfounded by what I find there. (Finding a sultry female Loki in full, uh, "bloom" had me clutching onto the kitchen counter for dear life, certain that, at any moment, the law of gravity would prove to just be a transient plot device, and that some careless, clever writer was going to cause me to fall right off the face of the planet. . . . . )

Hey Spiderwasp--add this to your list:
Thundra is now green like the She Hulk.
And you will never guess who's guest-starring in She-Hulk next month?
Give up?
