After reading the interview, I'm wondering if the creators are a couple of junior high kids?
I'm sure the first story will be, oh -- I don't know -- maybe six issues? I'll just wait for the trade paperback.

I thought this was a topic on the "pet characters" every writer seems to have, like Mantis with Englehart Not really interested in this. Thor frog was a funny idea at the time, but devoting an entire book to pets is not my thing.

After further review:
A) Other than Redwing, and maaaaaayybe Thorfrog (or whatever -- not a Simonson fan (at least artwise)), why would this group be called "Avengers"? Yeah, I know Crystal is Lockjaw's master (mistress?), but I guess I associate him more with the FF.
B) Do you think the animals are going to talk to each other? Wasn't that just the summit of all things hokey back in the DC Silver Age?
C) Marketing-wise, I'd have done this as a 4-issue mini-series, and then looked to see what the traffic will bear. In this economy, with books selling for $3-4, I hope the creators aren't buying cars with all the money they're going to make from this.

Doug, don't you think you're taking this a little too seriously? I'm pretty it's in the same vien as "Great Lakes Avengers." Besides, all we've had are two interviews.
And comic book writers really don't make a lot of money. By the time the money gets to them, it's merely a morsel.

OK, I don't know what anyone else's opinion is on this matter, honestly, but this sounds so completely stupid beyond belief! Wow, talking pet animals being "Pet Avengers"? Where do I sign up? But whatever, I have no clue what sells these days, if a comic book starring Lockjaw as a main character actually sells...
