You know, I almost like the current concept for New Avengers -- underground heroes fighting back against the establishment, trying to uphold the legacy of the true Avengers team. And for that purpose, I like this lineup just fine. Even Wolverine and Spider-man make sense in this scenario, as they might never have been on the Avengers, but they respected the idea and are just the type who would get in the trenches for this sort of under the radar fight.
But it's being written by Bendis. And they aren't Avengers.

I had to vote for both "Cool" and "Not Avengers", on the same basis. I've enjoyed New Avengers a lot more since Civil War, because I had 'Mighty' for Avengers and 'New' for the also enjoyable underground street level Bendis-driven stories.
Now that difference has only been increased by the Avengers-iness of Slott's Avengers, and this book is even more street level now (Albeit with Cap). So I really like the roster, and I'm going to really love reading the book. But they're still not Avengers. (Though I could accept Cap as one.)
