Yesterday was a negative thread, today is a shallow thread.
Which Avenger would you like to see get a complete makeover. New uniform, possibly new abilities, the works.
I wish they would do something different with wonderman. He has never quite FELT right to me. Now that they have back in the red jacket,... ugh. Plus do something a little different with his powers. With his origin he is a charater that should undergo more periodic changes.

I love Wonder Man!
To be honest... I think Wasp needs a new uniform. And new abilities. SHe's far too underused and needs more of a presence.

I think Wasp needs a new uniform. And she frequently gets one.

I think Wasp needs a new uniform. And she frequently gets one. However, she has had the same black and yellow one with only minor variations for quite some time. It's just not like Jan to stagnate. The thing is that she is one of the only characters who can constantly change her costume and still be instantly recognizable so I have to agree that it's time for something new. I'd also like to see Luke Cage (Even though I've stopped buying NA) actually look like a superhero. I liked it better when he was Powerman. I'm not suggesting that he go back to the yellow shirt that proudly announced the 70s but I think he would look more like an Avenger in something other than t-shirts.

And I read Bendis somewhere saying he's planning on giving her new powers or adding to those she already has, something along those lines... ...and therefore I tremble...!!! Could even Bendis do something worse than turning her into a giant insectoid, like Marvel did during the Crossing...?

I would change the Black Knight back into a technology based hero, like they did during his last full time tour of duty with the Avengers, when he had that photonic (I think...) sword which affected the nervous system of his antagonists... It dosen't sit well with me that a man like Dane, who is a scientist, would depend so much on magic...

Hmmm... I'm going to get rocks thrown at me, but I'm going to say Thor. I'd love to see a semi-historical look replace his classic costume, which never really impressed me as something a Viking "god" would wear.

RSC, that sctually would not be too far fetched. It would tie in well with his rise to hicher consciousness at the end of his series.

Do you recall the time in the late 70's when Thor actually met the "historical" Thor (red beard, etc.)? I don't remember much about the storyline, and I regret that I can't tell you the issue #'s. I used to have a nice little run of Thor, but alas they are in that netherworld of "now what did I do with those?".

Wasn't that Thor a transformed cameraman named Red Norvill? My faulty memory seems to recall he was used in a scheme by Odin to fulfill destiny, so the real Thor would not have to die...or did I just imagine that?

It has literally been about 30 years since I've seen that comic, and as I said I no longer own it. However, your memory powers seem sharp, as that is the basic gist of the story. Runs in my mind it was at least a two-parter. Art was maybe by Keith Pollard??
But in answer to the thread question, I would say that even though I am not reading Mighty Avengers, I'm still not diggin' Wondy's leisure suit. I didn't care for it way back when, don't care for it now. As far as he goes, to be honest I never cared for the whole "ionically-charged" bit anyway.

Yeah, I'd fotgotten how they have resurrected his red leisure suit and sorta depowered him... Man, to me it's uncanny how they can unerringly discard everything that I care about the past & only keep that which, IMO, should have been best left forgotten... Sure, Wondy's powers are/were thousands of miles away from being anything remotely original, but I think over the years he became a very 3 dimensional character, with both a personality & a history which were fleshed out very well, and that makes him an interesting character for me.

I thought the run of Wonder Man stories from the time Black Talon raised him up (#152) to around issue #200 was pretty solid. His powers were the same as when he was created, even though they were starting to delve into just what "ionically charged" meant. The "man out of time" angle was pursued, as was his relationship to the Vision. Issue #158 remains one of my all-time faves, and the issues where he "froze up" in the midst of battle are very good. However, from the time of the Infantino story (#203?) on, he began to decline for me.

That character development was why I say he is due for an upgrade. He goes through changes and is a good secondary, even sometimes primary, charater. I like to see him usr more than someone else's 'yes' man.

Hey, Wonder Man - the 70's called: they want their clothes back!
I think Ares needs a costume more in keeping with his status as a Greek god. Something with spikes, and a scary helmet, and other kewl stuff.
