How do you rate Rita DeMara (Yellowjacket II) as an avenger on a scale from 1 to 8 points? How well does she work for you within the dynamics of the team? How much do you like/dislike her as a character?

A 1 instead of 0. a legitimate idea for a villain at the time, but not a legitimate member of the Avengers.

I gave her a two because the character had some potential; she was interesting as a villain during the Stern run. I would have liked to have seen more detailing on her decision to switch to hero. Might have made a good foil for fellow reformed villain Hawkeye to deal with over in WCA.

I'll give her a one -- other than the one mission she did in that Avengers annual, I'm pretty sure she did nothing else for the squad. I kept waiting for the Henry Pym vs. Rita blow-off, but it never happened, and they killed her off before they could do too much with her character. I'll give her a one, but she had great potential! The Avengers issue where she fought the Wasp for the first time was fun.

She was interesting as a legacy-type character, albeit under shady circumstances. Could have been interesting, perhaps if given some more screen time.

I have to give her a 1 as an Avenger though I did like the character. I think her death was one of the worst things to come out of the Crossing. She only had one adventure as an Avenger before heading off to the future and joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. In that book, she actually had some really great character development and became someone who could have been a good Avenger. She returned home, full of potential. I think it would have been great to see her confront Hank Pym with her newfound confidence and surprise the Avengers by becoming a valuable member. The thing that could have made this story cool was that the Avengers hadn't seen her since she was a villain starting to turn the corner but very unsure of herself. To have her suddenly be changed would have been interesting because, since her character development happened due to time travel, it would be like no time had passed for the Avengers and they would be confused as to where all this change had come from. Unfortunately, she arrived on the Avengers doorstep only to be blown away by the Crossing's Ironman. She never had the chance to bring all that development home with her. There's never even been a chance for the Guardians to learn what happened to their friend. If I were the writer who worked so hard on her character, I would be royally pissed at the Avengers writers for throwing it all away.

2 points. Never cared too much for her as a character and the fact that Hank's probably the MU's hero with the largest number of legacy followers doesn't help... It never made sense to me, though, why IM felt the need to kill her during "The Crossing", other than to shock the readers.

the fact that Hank's probably the MU's hero with the largest number of legacy followers doesn't help... And they're all dead, too. Ant-Man - dead. Yellowjacket - dead. Black Goliath - dead. I guess he's got a couple others still kicking like Stature, but if I were her I wouldn't make any long term plans.

If Bill Foster had kept the "Black" in front of his name, he might still be alive today.

2, for potential. A villain turned hero can always work if properly used. Pity she was killed before being given the chance to shine...
