How do you rate Doctor Druid as an avenger, on a scale from 1 to 8 points? How well does he work for you within the dynamics of the team? How much do you like/dislike him as a character?

I gave him a one. I didn't mind him per se when he first showed up, but after the Simonson run it was kind of hard to like him. He pretty much became a one-plot character with that story, as it ru9ined whatever potential he might have had. And since I don't like that story... 1.

Really never should have been on the team. He had a somewhat interesting storyline, but I never ever thought he was "really" an Avenger. A one from me.

He was just never likeable. If they had given us a reason to get to like and respect him as an Avenger before Nebula controlled him, he might score higher but that storyline started in so fast that it's hard to remember his uncontrolled side.

A poor man's Dr. Strange. I'm not a fan, 1.

Props to Dr. D -- I seem to remember that he saved the Avengers butts just before joining. Was it connected to the Under Siege storyline? Can't quite remember. But I remember a story where he saved everybody. Wish I could remember. Loved the plot line of the mole in the team. His death was great. I really liked the story, as an Avenger, he probably deserves a 1. But for the potential he brought to the team and for the entertainment value of his diabolical plots, I rated him higher. so I gave him a 3. Generous mood I guess.

Poor guy, right when he joins the team he pretty much gets the shaft as a superhero, becoming a traitor sooner rather than later. I'll give him a one, but a one with asterisk attached to it saying that I wish he had more time to play the role of a hero. However, that old "Rate the Hunks" story in one of the West Coast Annuals always has me in stitches -- She-Hulk and the Wasp rip on poor Dr. Druid so much!

poor doc is getting the shaft. along with starfox, druid got the worst of a crowded roster and too many editorial decisions forced on creative. druid held his own in battles with the masters of evil and the gods of olympus. giving him a four because he earned it with these showings. i think ones should be reserved for the likes of deathcry or rage...

Don't you pull me into a defense of Rage now -- not in this thread.

3 At the beginning, he wasn't that bad. He helped the team on Avalon, saved them during the Under Siege storyline and held his own against the Gods on the Olympus, which is quite something. Magic is something the Avengers often miss, and being not nearly as powerful as Doc Strange, Druid wasn't too difficult to handle for the writers.
The problem is that the moment Stern left the book, he immediately went downhill, going from somewhat egocentric to truly insufferable, and never was given a chance to redeem himself.

I was struggling between 2 and 3 on this one, but I finally went with 3... Like some others, I too think his nice performance during "Under Siege" is completely downplayed due to his behavior afterwards... Not the greatest of avengers, not essential to the team in any way but, IMO, there were a number of avengers who were worse, or less interesting.

Couldn't stand him. Yes, I understand that he was primarily a plot device, but still -- just a character I loathed and that really recalls a down time for the team for me.
