How do you rate Starfox as an avenger, on a scale from 1 to 8 points? How well does e work for you within the dynamics of the team? How much do you like/dislike him as a character?

I gave Starfox a three. Really, he should probably get a one or two, but since he was on the team when I started reading comics, he has a slightly higher place in my memory than he deserves.
I will also say, on a nearly unrelated tangent, that Secret Wars II really screwed up a lot of stories, none more so than Stern's epic Skrull storyline. There are some really cool stories around #260 with the Skrulls, including the somewhat weird Annual #14, and it really looked like it was building into something really excellent. And then the Beyonder showed up and basically ended the story with a wave of his hand, which included Starfox quitting the team. While the SW II epilogue in #266 was a good story, the Beyonder crap otherwise is pretty much the only blight on Sterns run in my opinion, which he can't really be blamed for.

I never cared much for Starfox. He just seemed like some lame dork who was hitting on every woman on the team, and he used to creep me out! I never much liked the many line-up's of the Avengers during the mid 80's, then again that was when the book used to bore me, as compared to the MUCH better West Coast Avengers series that was blowing it out of the water by that point! I think that the problem is that when I think of the mid 80's Avengers, I always think of that short period when Namor was on the team, which looking back was completely ridiculous!

"Starfox" in the Avengers? Not much interest here. I wasn't reading comics during the late 1980s and missed Stern's entire run the first time around.
"Eros" in CAPTAIN MARVEL? Awesome.

Poor Starfox, I like him! He joined the team basically a few months after I started to read Avengers, and I was very entertained by his carefree-yet-serious-when-it-needs attitude. Besides, the mid 80s period is my favourite run together with Busiek, I like pretty much everything from that area (including Namor ^^). Still, he hasn't been around long enough, so it's 6 for me.

I never understood the character.

I gave Eros a 7. He's a great example of just a fun character from a time when comic books didn't take themselves too seriously. Wonder Man had all the ingredients to be the real "ladies man" of the Avengers, but Starfox actually got the girls AND nailed them. My hero! Sersi seemed like a lame, female rehashing of a Starfox-like character (sexy party-er), but her powers were too confusing and her character too inconsistent. Her membership really ticked me off, I felt Starfox should have stuck around longer. I'd love to see him join one of the current teams, or maybe the Guardians of the Galaxy.

An original, amusing character with a great, individual look; he doesn't have the traditional comic book face for a male. He always added something to the Avengers, though I can't consider him an essential to any incarnation of the team. But I think he's a great creation, so I'll give him a 6.

A 2 for me. Not a character which speaks to me. For some reason, which I can't easily define, he's the one "fun" avenger I don't much care for...

Like Van, I first "met" Eros back in Captain Marvel. As a counter point to his brother, Thanos, he made perfect sense. I also enjoyed his somewhat ambiguous sexuality then (which seems to have been replaced by him being a rabid skirt-chaser). While I thought his stint with the Avengers was interesting, I can't give him more than a 3.

6. I was always a fan based on his personality more than his powers. I wanted to see more of him when he left.

Poor Eros was misused during his tenure. he's a wild rogue-- charming and daring and has a great connection to one of the most powerful villains in the MU. I always thought their familial bond would make for some great stories. their very names mean love and death, but most of Eros' personality traits weren't explored properly. I have to blame the scripter for that. And I like Stern, but he dropped the ball with an interesting character. He's worth a six to me.

Starfox is boring to me. Bad costume. Generic physical abilities, and a boring super power. Still though, when he was a member, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed reading about him. He was well used, but still, when I look at it in the big picture, I have no use for Starfox. But I did like how he brought out the outer space elements of the team. Ok, in concept I was going to vote much lower, but looking at it now, the execution was pretty darn good -- I'll give him a 4.
And when he joined -- was it during the lame Plant Man issue? He came in, and I believe he saved the whole team. I didn't find that plausible at the time. Then the next issue he joined.

I don't think he saved everyone For one thing, only a couple of Avengers went to that mission, and in the end Thor saved him if I remember well. One of my favourite scenes with him is when Cap tells him off for being 2 minutes late to a training session. In a way, it showed how serious being an Avenger is.

Not a character I ever really cared for. I wasn't too much into the Starlin characters, so perhaps didn't have a true appreciation of Eros.
