I thought it would be nice to discuss the candidates in each Jarvis category. Since there are a lot of categories, some of which have a lot of candidates, it might make sense to discuss each category in its own thread.
11. AVENGERS CREATORS HALL OF FAME [Vote for two.] + John Buscema + Steve Englehart + Jack Kirby + Jim Shooter + Roger Stern
Even though there are a relatively small number of choices, and even though we get to each pick two, I suspect this will be the most contentious category on the ballot. d**n, they are all worthy choices. If we are going to stick to the idea of a minimum threshold, consensus is all the more important. I suggest trying to narrow things down by voting for one person as a visual artist and another person as a writer: basically, Buscema vs. Kirby and Englehart vs. Shooter vs. Stern.
What are your thoughts on this titanic tussle?

I nominated Buscema and Englehart.
My early nominees for next year (you heard it here first) will be Don Heck and Tom Palmer.

My choices: Englehart and Buscema are discussed in the other thread. While I agree all the other creators were great, these two made the greatest contribution to the Avengers within the pages of the Avengers.

Anyone else care to voice a preference from among this year’s candidates? I would really like to back a pair of winners.

Ditto on Buscema and Englehart, for the reasons I stated in the other thread Bored refers to. Recap: Buscema really established the look of the Avengers book and made it a contender, art-wise, with the FF and Spider-Man books; and Englehart's writing helped transition the book into the '70s.
I am still amazed that Buscema was not in this HoF already, but better late than never...

I am still amazed that Buscema was not in this HoF already, but better late than never... Well, keep in mind that 2005 was the first year for the "Hall of Fame" category. So, it's not too bad that Buscema is getting inducted in the second year that the category has existed.

You're right...thanks for pointing that out to me, JohhnyZ. I guess, since I grew up on the Buscema Avengers, I took exception to Perez seemingly usupring JB's rightful place (in this HoF). Not that I don't like Perez's work, but, well--John put the Avengers art on the map.

I think Perez made it in part for his Volume III contributions, and I don't know ... Buscema probably still did more issues, but something about that volume III revival was very important for the title.

something about that volume III revival was very important for the title. You have a point there. I'm currently reading the tpb "Heroes Reborn: The Avengers"- - aka volume II...yeeesh, what a mess.

I'm afraid I might be guilty of making an illegal lane change, but I did make a post on the H of F topic in the "2006 Award Winners" thread.
