forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=108195While I like the idea of seeing it in chronological order, it really feels like Marvel is milking the heck outta "Civil War." Now, if they were to release an massive omnibus of "Civil War," I'd buy that. ~W~

Hahahahah.
This really just goes to show how blockbuster a success it is. PLUS the main parts of it will be reprinted in the UK in about a year's time. But no, I don't think it's too far. If it'll sell, if some people don't own it yet then why the Hell not?

It also goes to strongly suggest that profit is the principal or only motivator at Marvel right now - a short term outlook if quality must be sacrificed on the altar of Mammon. I believe in the profit motive - the desire for remuneration, after all, has driven all of humankind's really big achievements (yes, even art). But that drive must be tempered so that there is something left for the future. I fear Marvel, like a lot of corporations, may be taking the short-sighted "take the money now and the future will take care of itself" view. Poor stewardship, to say the least.

Well obviously Marvel will try and make money selling what works (And Civil War worked, even if most of these boards disagree). It seems good to have a frontline/civil war collection, but like Thew40 said an huge omnibus would be a better option.

I must agree with your take on poor stewardship. Sometimes shortsightedness can be costly

I love this part:
"Civil War Chronicles will debut in July from the publisher, and will include Civil War and Civil War: Front Line as well as some of the more important ancillary titles, and occasional editorial write-ups which will explain some of the events in context of the larger Marvel Universe picture. "
Months later and they are still having to try to explain what the hell actually happened, since the stories themselves were inadequate to the task (or flat-out contradictory).

OOOHHHHHH Tana said 'hell'. Yes, casual profanity is a hobby of mine. When reading comics lately, I seem to be uttering a lot of profanities...although I've never said, "The hell?"

Right, of course, because it's ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE that they just wanted to provide extra detail for casual readers. Of course.

I'm not sure they actually entirely KNOW "what the hell" actually happened over there.

Pretty odd then, that I have a pretty good idea.
You really want to talk about Civil War's relatively minor plot holes as opposed to the gaping "creative leaps", shall we say, in Identity Crisis, Infinite Crisis, Avengers Disassembled or house of M? Compared to them, Civil War's continuity is tighter than She-Hulk's costume!
