If the events of C.W. were real, based on issue 1 on which side would you be ?
I think I would go with Cap, to keep heroes a "free" thing and not a super police group.

I would definitely be on Cap's side. I respect and agree with his ideas. The identities of the heroes must be protected as should their independence. Otherwise, they just become the government's new weapons. The government hates WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) unless they are in control of them.

Yes, definitly with Cap. And it´s great that Millar changed the original intention and choosed the non-government side for him - it fits Cap´s character much better.

I´m not sure. I agree that turning the superheroes into a governamental task force can be dangerous (see Ultimates) but for the ordinary Joe in the MU it must be very dangerous just to live in a city like New York. If someone like Moon Knight or even Spiderman beat a innocent up, thinking he is a criminal, who will they respond to?
I like reading about the MU, but I´m not sure I would like to live there...

That's a good point, especially considering that superheroes always come with super villains. I don't know if having them under government control would change things though.

Nelson & Murdock, probably? ;D Or Miss She-Hulk or this counselors I read just in the All New OHOTMU, I think it was issue #4. You´re right about that, reading about it is a bless, but living in that "friendly neighborhood" -- no, thanks. |

I'm on Iron Man's side. Why are super heroes allowed to break the law? What gives them the right to put themselves above us, or anyone else? They should be registered to keep the peace, in my opinion.

Cap.
Only having read Civil War #1, I'm a little unclear on this: are "powers" (as Iron Man has called them) *required* to serve the government? Or do they have the option of not operating at all?
If they're required to serve that is slavery, and it is ethically wrong no matter how many laws one passes to make it legal.
If they have the option not to operate, that's what I'd do. And this would be my parting message: "Over the years, I have helped people. There are people alive today because I chose to intervene on their behalf. There are people who come home to those loved ones, who might have faced life without them. I did this because it was right, not because I wanted money or fame. Now those people - those survivors and their friends and family - should ask themselves whether the government they elected is doing what they want it to. And if it isn't, they should get together with other people who feel the same way, and change how the government is operating. Until that happens, until your government tells me it's okay for me to help you again - I cannot. I hope that day comes soon. Best of luck to all of you, and goodbye."
