The long-awaited announcement of Dan Slott's new title was made in New Joe Friday's # 26. www.newsarama.com/NewJoeFridays/NJF_26.htmlDan Slott will be writing a 6-issue mini called "Avengers: The Initiative," which may or may not have anything to do with the Civil War-related "50 States Initiative." According to Joe Q, it could expand to a on-going series if there's enough fan support. Thoughts? ~W~

If it's -as it seems to be- related to CW I'll reserve my judgement on it for a while, but it's still great to know at least ONE Avengers book won't be in the hands of the Adversary, even if it never becomes ongoing...

Slott's work on The Thing has made this a sure thing for me. It'll be a good day when he gets onto Avengers proper or another A-List book like the FF. I'm excited for this one.

I'll have to reserve judgment on this one. On the one hand, I'd love to send the message that a different voice is needed for the Avengers. On the other hand, my confidence in Marvel is so damaged by CW that I am not keen right now on supporting anything that comes out of it. If the series has little to nothing to do with CW, I'll probably give it a shot.

I'm not one of those people that automatically jumps on the bandwagon just because of a certain writer, but Slott is an exception. I have yet to read anything from him that I didn't like, so the idea of him tackling the Avengers, even short term, is exciting.
