Thoughts on the new IM limited series?
I liked it well enough, though I had very little idea what was going on (and more importantly, WHY it was going on, given Tony's role in Civil War and in relation to SHIELD).... It was as if this story took place either two years ago, or six months from now. Y'know?
So my reaction was 1) not bad, and 2) HUH?!?

Well, #2 made things a good bit clearer. This seems, at least for now, to be an out-of-continuity story. But it's extremely well-constructed and engrossing (although I have a problem with some of the expressions in Tony's monologue running through it). I'm beginning to think I'm the only person reading this series, so somebody else tell us what you think!

I think it has been decent.
But what is up with the cover to issue 4 I believe that has the female goth Avengers.

I've been picking it up because I like IM, but the continuity is confusing as heck and I am still not sure what happened or where this is going.

I think the just-completed 6-part IRON MAN: HYPERVELOCITY will be underappreciated now and for some time to come... But one day folks may look back at this story and discover a very offbeat, unusual little story that was in some ways ahead of its time.
From its onslaught of electronics/computer terms (seemingly comprising more than fifty percent of its dialogue and captions) to its constant bouncing back and forth from real-world actions to cyberspace stuff, it was not an easy story to "get" or to follow.
But I think in the end it rewarded careful reading. It was unlike anything I've read before, and I found it alternatingly tedious, tiresome, confounding, and fairly brilliant.
In any case, it's worth a look. For a comic that scarcely contained *any* previously recognizable characters, including Iron Man himself (save for a mostly comatose Tony Stark), it was remarkably engrossing and surprisingly innovative.

I'd been toying with the idea of picking up the tpb when it comes out, your points make me feel I can act with more certainty now. I'll post my thoughts when I get a chance to flip through it.

As someone who has tried to put away my old stuffy attitude and is actively trying find things in current comics disliked by many old timers like myself, I have to say I found little to like in this story. We have no idea when or where this story happens or fits in. It does jump from real to cyber world, which is not too hard to follow, but I really got to the point that I bought the last couple only because I bought the first ones. Too much jargon and techno-junk for me.
