I am an Avengers fan from back in the 80's and am recently back in to comics. I have been reading NA, IM, Cap, CW, and a couple minis (UJ and ANext). I have been in on a few discussions here and lurked on a few.
I get the general sense that, even though it sells, NA is not popular with the majority of this board and that BMB is pretty unpopular. I can say that my opinion is that some of it has been okay, some of it is Brand Ech.
So my question is, what out there is good right now? Who is writing good stuff, with good art. And I am not limiting my queary to just Avengers or Marvel stuff. What are the comics now that in 10 yrs we will all be saying, "remember when?"

Some of us complain that the trade paperback drives story length these days. However, the attractive thing about the tpb is that it makes for an affordable way to get a run of comics without having to track down the individual issues. That being said, I would recommend --
Any of the Avengers Vol. 3 trades Bone by Jeff Smith (available now in a very thick omnibus edition) Ultimate Spider-Man (trades and ongoing) by Bendis (he is good on this book, with a few exceptions) The ongoing series Justice from DC (the first four issues have been collected in a hardcover) Superman/Batman monthly Teen Titans is generally good Ultimate FF is usually good
There -- those are a few contributions from me!

Don´t know what you mean with "UJ", but one book I think that will be remembered is Millar´s/Hicht´s Ultimates. Hitch´s delays on its own are legendary...

Just saw this and wanted to throw in-
You have Cap and CW- both definitely good picks. Agreed with the Avengers Vol 3 trades, and Ultimate Spidey is indeed very good. Other than that...
The Ultimates is amazing, pick up the first 12 in hardcover at once!
Amazing and Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man are both very good, though the latter seems to ride great highs and then descend to hideous lows, alternating so randomly it's hard to judge overall.

Definately pick up Runaways. I think the initial arc was a bit better than the current stuff, simply because of the newness of the characters and the concept, but it's consistently one of the best Marvel series out there.

I picked up Meltdown from Image today I think it might be the best book I've read all year. Its an amazing read.
I've also been a fan of the new Ms. Marvel series.

Here are some recommendations from my current reading list: - Gødland: fun, wacky postpostmodern reinterpretation of the Silver Age superhero esthetic
- Rex Libris: odd, intellectually based but fairly accessible humor series about a super-librarian in pursuit of unreturned books and the like, replete with many concepts from history, fantasy, and science fiction
- Runaways: quirky, often unpredictable seriocomic adventures of a band of runaway teens with powers, good intentions, and great mistrust for adult authority
- She-Hulk: somewhat goofy (but not excessively so) stories well grounded in the history and variety of the Marvel Universe
- The Walking Dead: B&W drama/adventure following a group of survivors in a cannibal-zombie holocaust à la Night of the Living Dead

Are Godland & Rex Libris carried by most comic book stores, Night Phantom...? Possibly not. The shop that pulls them for me doesn’t order copies for the shelves. Gødland might get some exposure out of the fact that it’s published by Image, but Rex Libris is from the itty-bitty independent SLG.
