We just have to hope it's a writer who can rely more on skill and not cheap parlour tricks.

Beyond pure money, it's pretty obvious Cap will come back sooner or later. Even if there weren't the money factor, there will just be writers who say "Hmm, let's bring back Steve Rogers as a shock!" or whatever. A shock would be the return of a vengeful Captain America, one who uses his uncanny skills and determination to bring down those who betrayed his ideals. Can you imagine an event where Marvel heroes have to fight against him as maybe the leader of the Thunderbolts? This is a man who faced every single challenge without flinching. Who could stop a berserk Cap?

Who could stop a berserk Cap? Answer: Thor. The question you should ask though is: Who WOULD stop a berserk Cap?

Balok gets a prize for most accurate signature of 2007, even if he was being sarcastic! The second part of the sig anyway! I think you misspelt "Cors" in the first part

Balok: was your namesake the 1st extraterrestrial we see in the original Star Trek...? I used to like the series as a kid (even if Captain Kirk often got on my nerves... I was, and remain, a Spock fan...) but I have to admit that, nowadays, though I'm still pretty well versed on my STNG lore, my memories & knowledge regarding the original are woefully inadecuate...

I don't know if he was the first alien they created, but he was one of the first. He flew the enormous spherical ship that looked like a collection of ping pong balls. And he appeared at the end of the end credits in a lot of episodes.

Balok: was your namesake the 1st extraterrestrial we see in the original Star Trek...? Actually, I’m pretty sure that would be Spock. But maybe you don’t want to count him, because he’s half-human or something. Balok’s episode, “The Corbomite Maneuver”, was the first regular episode of the series production. But the first Trek alien besides Spock to appear in a broadcast episode would be the M113 salt vampire, whose episode “The Man Trap” was the first to air. But if you want to stick to production order—well, the original pilot “The Cage” (basis of the two-parter “The Menagerie”) preceded both those episodes and featured Talosians, as well as some other aliens.

You mean your real name is Kirk...? Do all women in miniskirts find you, in the immortal words of Robert Palmer, "simply irresistible", no matter what planet they come from...?

no silly, I'm the one who has to suffer because Kirk ruined a perfectly good name. Now I can't go anywhere where there are blue or green women without getting hit on.
