As I write this (my 1000th post, by the way ), I notice that we are over 460 topics and 5500 posts on this site. It has certainly taken off, and as Van has said, fulfilled his vision for creating it in the first place. That being said, and I guess this is addressed to both Van and shiryu: Gentlemen, is there a way to be able to search within these message boards? We've had a flurry of new members in the past weeks and I'm sure they (as well as some of us forgetful old timers) would appreciate the ability to search for a particular writer or artist or story arc throughout the site. Do such filters exist? Thanks!

I sometimes use Google’s Advanced Search option, which allows you to restrict a search to a particular Web site. Actually, you don’t even have to go to the Advanced Search page itself—you can just include “site:vplexico.proboards60.com” as one of the terms in a standard Google search box.

I've always assumed the google box at the bottom of this and every page of the Board would do that...

I, uh, guess I didn’t look that far…

OK, yeah, I am the most non-observant person on the boards. Sorry -- the Google search at the bottom of the main page works WONDERFULLY to navigate a particular topic within this site! Van or shiryu, there is no need for this thread, so if you want to take it down, by all means. Sorry for the trouble, and I'm glad my question was answered!!

Sweet Hala, I just noticed all those little magnifying-glass icons with the word “search” beside them… I’m with Doug: maybe someone should delete this thread before we get all the more embarrassed!

Ih ih, you wish ;D
It could be useful for the new users, after all if 2 of the most longstanding members hadn't see it, it might have escaped the attention of a few more too.

In my defense, I think I noticed this on-site search stuff when I was new to the forum…but I did not feel any need for it at that time, and the various relevant on-page elements sort-of faded into the background and slipped my mind. Later, when I had been around long enough to want to look for old posts whose location I couldn’t quite remember, I fell back on my general Google habits and didn’t look for an on-site solution. Incidentally, of all the search methods, it looks like the most sophisticated and therefore most potentially useful would be the search page accessible from the magnifying-glass “search” link in the horizontal bar near the top of each page.
