OK this was pretty good.
The Avengers enemies have hired The Assassin to eliminate them as a group. After 1 year of planning that is what the assassin attempts.
The action from this one is pretty good with the right amount of plot tension thrown in. I have never read or referenced this one before so I found it very enjoyable.
A little surprise at the ending. The only sorta cheesy event in the storyline is in how Hawkeye escapes his predicament at the end, but this is a comic book world so it can be forgiven.
Overall I give this set 7 Loonies out of 10

I know others have commented that they like this story; I could never get past the poor Don Heck art! And, as we've discussed before, I hated that this interupted the whole Serpent Crown/Squadron Supreme story.

yeah, I have to agree with that. One second we're here the next we're back over there. That's just odd.

I might be "the other" who commented that I liked this story. I thought the assassin was a really great character, and hated was disappointed that he died at the end. Oops -- did i just give away the ending? I totally dug the Thor decoy too.

I wouldn't have minded the issues as I wasn't a completist storyline collector at the time...(what was I, seven? nine? somewhere in there) however the Gil Kane covers were so much better than the Don Heck rush job that I was disappointed by the art even at such a tender age...

I've just read them (did I say I love the DVD ;D). Nice issues, nothing extraordinary but funny, and the assassin seemed an interesting character everything considered.

Oh, I totally agree. I don't now how many times in the 70's I'd pick up some comic with great cover art, only to discover Heck or Frank Robbins artwork inside. It was really bad if it was a Perez cover!

I thought this was a good two-parter. As to it interrupting the Squadron story, for some reason I got the impression this was a fill-in story because the other stories weren't ready.
