Superboy, because the recent court ruling makes this a real possibility. It would just be hilarious.

If you had to pick up one character from any other publisher (DC, Image etc) to join the Avengers, who would he/she/it be, and why ? Must I pick one?!? - Green Lantern. I’ve long liked the Green Lantern concept from the science-fiction angle: a high-tech ring offering numerous capabilities shaped by will and imagination, concomitant with membership in an interstellar society of protectors. The human Green Lanterns whose personalities make the best fit into the Avengers would be Hal Jordan and John Stewart—but everyone’s favorite alien “poozer” Kilowog could be fun. In addition to personality compatibility, the sci-fi “look and feel” would add spice to the Avengers lineup—and if the Green Lantern Corps crossed universes too, then the GL’s dual membership could provide both support and conflict for his Avengers duties. And... I would want to see a battle against the Squadron Sinister’s Doctor Spectrum!
- The (Savage) Dragon. He’s got the power; he’s got esprit de corps; he’s practically tireless in his heroic endeavors; and he’s got an outspoken, thoughtful, yet down-to-earth personality—somewhat like Hawkeye with super-strength, green skin, and a big fin on his head. It’d be interesting to see him debate from time to time with Avengers leaders like Cap and Iron Man. And although he’d likely not seek the position, it might be fun to see him struggle with being leader of the Avengers himself! And if Dragon’s coming, maybe Erik Larsen’s coming too—I think his take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes would be a blast!
- Worf of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (he’s been a character in some non-Marvel comics—and some Marvel ones, too). A honorable warrior...with internal conflicts and an odd perspective on humans. And with him around...who needs Wolverine?

I would go for Batman. The Avengers lack a real detective and therefore he could be a good value for the team. Also, as far as I know he is often the on-field leader of the JLA, so it could be interesting to see how he would deal with Cap or whoever else is in charge. Potentially, it could be like the time when Reed Richards was in the Avengers, but was not too keen on following Cap's orders.

I am laughing out loud... I wonder what Bendis could do with him??
You gotta love DC's love of gorillas, etc., don't you? While I love the Silver Age of Marvel, there's something innocent and just a little silly about DC's Silver Age, isn't there? God bless Julie Schwartz, et al.

Yes, Marvel could use a few more humanlike apes and monkeys...Gorgilla, the Headmen’s Gorilla-Man (Dr. Nagan), Gorr the Golden Gorilla, the Beasts from Berlin, et al. are not sufficient. I could see a talking gorilla in the Avengers. (Actually, there was one in the “1950s Avengers”...) Maybe a hero with a monicker like Gorilla Warfare. Perhaps he’d have a real human name, like Harry Simeon Mann. (In the mighty Marvel manner, I’m sure he’d be someone who mind was tragically transferred into an ape’s body, or something...)

Or bitten by a radioactive orangutan.
Hey, Night -- for a second I thought you were being sarcastic. I was about to smite you... but we're all pals around here.

When I read Silve Age Marvel, I see precursors to the later decades. When I read Silver Age DC, it's like reading refined perfected Golden Age stories.
But I do gotta wonder what's with DC and the gorillas? I'm not an aficonado, but I can think of a handful of DC apes -- and on the Marvel side, outside of the Red Ghost's flunkies -- I'm stumped.

Doesn't Black Panther also have a Gorilla like enemy ? The Ape Man or something like that I believe.

Has Gorr the Golden Gorilla appeared any other time than in the FF arc that had Galactus battling the High Evolutionary for Counter-Earth? I think Gorr somewhat capitalized on the popularity of the Planet of the Apes tv show which aired at the time.

Hey, Night -- for a second I thought you were being sarcastic. I was about to smite you... but we're all pals around here. Oh, go ahead. I would wear my counter-karma like a badge of honor. Yes, I would forge it into my talisman. As Hercules said in Quasar #29, “ HUZZAH!!! I HAVE BEEN SMITTEN!!!”
Has Gorr the Golden Gorilla appeared any other time than in the FF arc that had Galactus battling the High Evolutionary for Counter-Earth? In Quasar (that series again!) #16, Gorr is shown to be one of the inmates of the Stranger’s prison planet. I suppose a resonance with the short-lived 1974 Planet of the Apes TV series is certainly possible—and let’s not forget that Marvel was still publishing a Planet of the Apes magazine—but I tend to associate Gorr’s original 1976 appearances with King Kong, who made his big-screen return later that same year. After all, Gorr temporarily appeared at giant size, and the cover to FF #171 did remind us this was “ not just another giant gorilla story!”
To get back to the original topic...how about if some Gorilla City citizen joined the Avengers?

They have had Tigra and the Beast before, I think they wouldn't mind a gorilla citizen so it could work.

What about Reuben Flagg (from Chaykin´s American Flagg!) instead of Cap, now that he´s dead?

I know this is my old stand-by, but I'd love to see the Tick cross over. He'd fit right in with the NA. He is always fighting ninjas.
