Speaking of crappy toys, did anyone else ever get a Spider-Man playset, circa about 1975, that had two-dimensional, cardboard figures of Spidey and his villains? The playset itself was cardboard with a vinyl covering, and was a typical New York street scene, with a building that represented the Daily Bugle. Not familiar with it. Going by your description, the set sounds like it could have made an awesome board gameābut a lousy playset.

That looks like a really fun book! I think I had this, or something very similar to it. The playset folded up into a carrying case, and there was a little city scape there, and all those 2-dimensional figures. I had mine closer to 1980, but it might have been on the shelf awhile. I don't remember if it was Spidey only, or if there were other heroes. I guess probably just Spidey.

I remember that the cardboard figures had to be stuck into plastic bases to stand up. I remember making some of my own to supplement the ones in the set!

I never bought anything from an ad in a comic, though I was always fascinated by sea monkeys, and I thought Big Jim's P.A.C.K. looked kinda cool One of my pleasures in reading back issues is looknig at the old ads.

welcome ultron69, I have enjoyed your posts, and will gladly hand off my Bendis-Bashing Baton to you!
And I think I've mentioned this in a previous post, but I remember an ad from a 70's comic book for LIVE BABY RACCOONS to be bought as pets, I assume.
and I'm also a fan of the old ads, a reason I don't but any reprint material.

Thanks for the baton, Starfoxx, but I think there is enough room for two (or two thoustand) Bendis-Bashing Batons! I'll call mine Mjolnir. :-)
