Yeah, Heinberg is starting to get on my nerves.

So... Teddy and/or his mother/guardian is a Skrull. And somehow, it seems like only a few people (including me) saw this coming since #1.
This is one of the least original things Heinberg could have thrown in. How many times has a character thought themselves human, despite an obvious resemblance to an alien race, only to be revealed as a member of that race? Heck, it has happened in almost every Marvel "teen" title to date, even recently in Runaways - the X-Young Avengers.
*sigh*
And I suppose it will take another five issues to find out who/what is a Skrull. And then we'll still be confused.
Such a pity I plan to stop reading comics altogether. They give me such satisfaction and joy these days.

I stopped reading some issues ago.
There were the first inconsistencies, and that's ok - Like Wiccan is Young Thor... ya know, Wicca has nothing to do with Odinism. But i guess it's hip with the kids, so there it went (i don't know why they keep targetting kids when they clearly buy no comics, and clearly have rare access to Direct Market, but ok)
Then Young Cap is black. Hurray. (by revealing it later on, kinda look like he was afraid to loose readers by not saying it immideately and on the cover, go figure.)
Then half the team is Gay. Hurray. (from what i hear, this guy's stuff rarely doesn't have a gay dude in it, i guess it's hip.)
By then i stopped. Wouldn't even bothered me if it was laid out on the line, immideately. If i was a cynic, i'd say this is a technique to get people to talk everytime a new "Scandal" is out.
By then i clearly got the feeling this was a gimmick book. I guess this stuff is typical hollywood stuff, throw everything but the kitchen sink at it.
Costumes change, names change. Sick and tired. Just stick to the story already.
From what i hear now everyone and their doggy is an Alien know. Oky Doky.
While continously re-ashing the classics like Kang and Kree\Skrull war.
Ya know, for me, just cut the BS and give me Roy thomas or Englehart. The new guys are supposed to be the new shiznit, and they're from hollywood and they're supposed to be sacred cows.
Too bad they can't write a freakin' story without clinging on to a classic from yesteryear - while at the same time claiming to be superior and more sophisticated than the originals. Why? Because everyone's black, gay, wiccan, and an alien?
It's what's hip these days. I long for the days when what was hip was doing creative, new, filled with content, stories.
House of Ideas... long gone.

LOL - Absolutely not.  The Super-Skrull is sent to capture him and bring him in, and he makes it quite obvious that he's not related (if he does turn out to be related, then the issue has been VERY badly written). - Adrian |

now, yes, he is a Skrull, and that was somewhat predictable, BUT isn't there the line that says something about "it being true about the father". The woman (presumable his real mom) is the Skrull, so the real mystery regarding Teddy is his dad, which is where he gets his strength. I have a thought on who could possibly be the father, but I'm probably wrong.....lol

It would also mean he has a half-brother running around in another team book right now. And a half-sister, too, depending on how much of what Peter David writes as he's on the way out the door really counts... I could never make sense of that bit.

nevermind...i just read your post elsewhere.....Peter David also wrote Genis's book, Captain Marvel, so yeah...you guessed it. Although, isn't Peter David still going to be on Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man for awhile? I thought he was going to stay on that title for awhile
